Question Visorphone or Bluetooth Phone/Blade combo?

I ordered the Blade M Blutooth module and the D Link BT USB adaptor for may Mac, and now I am thinking what would be the best mobile solution for me, the Visorphone or a BT phone/Blade combo.

I wouldn't even consider the Visorphone if not for the dialpad sleeve that allows you to use it outside of the Visor. Can anybody tell me how well this works? What about ringtones?

I had a Minstrel S and I found it way too bulky to have in the Visor in most situations. I probably would only put the Visorphone in when I wanted to surf the web or something. Am I better off with a BT phone to use with the Blade? What phone would that be? $200 is my limit for the phone, and I want a phone without a plan to use with Cingular in California.

Thanks!

I would difinantly go with a Bluetooth Phone/Blade combo. I've seen that combination working and it is so sweet ( you can tel lwhat my dream phone is )

You can buy a Ericsson T39 which is a Bluetooth phone, and is rather cool, unlocked at expansys.com . (in the US)

I don't know if you cna get any Bluetooth phones in the US now through service providers though...

Yeah, I'm starting to think I should just use a BT phone as my mobile internet connection without worrying too much about the Visor. WAP isn't perfect, but for movie listings and those things, maybe it will suffice. I'm going to Cingular today to see what they say about my possibilities with them. I'll be sure to let them I won't renew my contract unless they make a sweet offer.

Anybody know what other carriers in the SF Bay Area use SIM cards?

Angry VP Honeymoon is over

I do not recommend anyone get a Visorphone. It was cool while it lasted, surfing the net, downloading pop.email. But Saturday when I tried to turn on my VP and found it was dead, and my VDX was dead--after having put in new batteries and using it only a few days earlier--I removed the VP module, put new batteries in the back, reset the the thing and it came back on. Hotsync to reinstall everything, and it worked fine again--until I plugged the VP module back in, then it was toast, literally. You could smell burning components around the battery compartment, the batteries were hot as fire. It was one dead visor--roasted to boot. I called Handspring, got put on hold on the non-toll free line for over 1/2 an hour, finally I called their main line and asked for a superviser. That got them to put me replacements in the mail, but can I trust that VP again? Do I want to even try?
I am now trying to find an inexspensive phone that works for Voicestream with the sim card. $99 at Staples for the same phone Voicestream would have given me for free if I had not got the VP--Get the Cell phone, do not fool with the VP, they are cool, until they burn up.

PS--does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced Motorola T2282, or similar phone that works with the sim card? I have spent all my money on the Visor lately so I am trying to find a reasonably priced cell phone. Everyone wants you to sign a contract before they sell you a phone, the very few that sell without a contract charge rediculous prices. Anyone know of any sites that sell a phone like this in the 40-50 dollar range?

I had a Visorphone and now I have a Red-M, a T39 and a TDK USB on my desktop. I like this combination! It's so cool, the Red-M does not impact on size or weight.

I can browse using the phone, or use my home network, hotsync over the wireless connection at home, send and receive SMS, it's great.

You can buyt T39 or T68 (but who wants colour mobile if you have a Handspring?) from http://www.primatesystems.com
