Question

Okay--I'm going to buy a new stylus that fits in my silo and I'm going to get one of these two. I've read the reviews that the PDA Panache is really nice, feels good, but sticks out a bit. Some people said they didn't care, others said they hated it. The Handspring one also has a screwdriver, but I don't know if it feels as nice.

All reviews seem to compare to the stock stylus, which is obviously inferior to almost everything out there.

So the question is: which is better? PDA Panache or the metal one from Handspring?

Thanks
JakeBlues

Jake,

I've been considering getting the Panache as well. I've been using the deluxe stylus about 40% of the time and find it easy to use, except that it seems too short. The flared end rubs against my hand and make it uncomfortabe for "extended" writing periods.

The reason I'm thinking of getting the Panache is for the length. The cases I've got make the added length something of an advantage, the length should fit better in my hand, and it also looks the the reset pin is in a more helpful place than under the tip, as it is in the deluxe. Don't get me wrong, the deluxe is quite useable and I got it because we've got FOUR Visors in our family, so everyone got their case color so it's not like I was "stuck" with a bunch of extras. It's just that the Panache looks like in improves on a couple of key areas that I'm concerned about.

Thumbs up

I have both a PDA Panache Stylus and Handspring Deluxe Stylus. After using the Deluxe for a few days, I went back to using the PDA Panache Stylus. The PDA Panache stylus is heavier and seems to be smoother. I like the additional weight, it seems like I use much less effort to write with the PDA Panache sytlus.

I do not believe the extra length (only about 1/4 inch) makes a difference. It does stick out of the top of the Visor but it does not get in the way when I am installing my backup springboard module.

The reset pin on the PDA Panache is easier to use than on the Deluxe because you have more to hold on to when using it. With the Deluxe, the reset pin is at the end of the tip, with the PDA Panache, it is about 3/4 of the way up the stylus from the tip.

I don't think the screwdriver in the Deluxe is a big advantage. I do not plan on disassembling my VDX and do not have any other use for such a small, short philips screwdriver.

This is just my opinion,
Ed
