compact flash eats my battery

i have a matchbookdrive adapter and a CFcard. If I leave the adapter and card plugged in, the battery life is about 4 days!!
Does anyone know why the card uses so much power?? where does the power go?? i wish i could leave the card in all the time.

All CF cards are not created equal. When your Visor is "off" it really isn't off, it's in a low power standby mode. The CF card is also in a standby mode, but some CF cards use a lot more power in standby mode than others. Where does it go? It's powering the logic on the CF card that is waiting for the next command that the card needs to process. You can search the archives of the FlashAdapter-forum and find a great deal of discussion on this topic. There is also a database there that provides power use measurements for several CF cards.
