Visorphone ringer quit?

I picked up a new visorphone recently for my prism. Initially, the ringer and vibration settings seemed to work fine. Lately, I rarely get either to work and when I chane the settings I get no reponse either. Otherwise, things seem to work fine for my needs.

Does anyone have any tips to test whether this unit has gone bad (and then what?) or how I can test things?
