Question

Due to the overwhelming response to my last post about getting WriteRights from Hardwarestreet.com, I decided to run down to Best Buy and pick some up. I opened the package, pulled one out, and slapped it on the front of my Visor. But then I noticed this smudge across the top of it. I tried my best to clean it off, but it wouldn't happen. I pulled the other ones out, and had a look. If you held them up just right so that the light reflected off of them, you could see this same smudge on all of them. It was as if they were all going through some kind of roller that had something on it, because the pattern looks the same on all of them, and is in the same place on all of them.

Does anyone know if this is a common problem with WriteRights? I'm going to return these, but I'm leery. I don't want to get another batch like this one.

Exclamation

nope, never had that problem on any of mine. You probably just got a part of a bad batch.

It's a factory defect. I purchased a set at a Franklin Covey store and they had the same smudge. Only one out of the whole pack was clear of problems. Exchange them for a new pack and check the new pack out in the store.

I purchased a subsequent pack from Amazon. Got the PDA Survival kit w/ WriteRights, Screen Cloths, Brainwash, and a fingertip stylus for 29 bucks... and since the package is not 'handheld-specific' (it comes with WR's for palms as well as handheld pcs), you get another 12 WR's for returning the non-applicable ones to Concept kitchen.

I just picked up a pack today and they all had the same problem (maybe one didn't).

It kind of sucks because there is a thick line going across the screen now. I have exactly the same problem as you Chris, so I think these babies are going back tomorrow.

I went to staples and found that they have some in a warner brothers DVD snapper case type of thing.. i wonder if that will be anything different. I love the cover, just hate the smudge as you called it.

I took the defective WriteRights back, and Best Buy replaced them without asking any questions. The second batch was better, though not perfect. Someone said that the WriteRights for CE devices fit perfectly on the Visor. Can anyone else verify this? I got WriteRights for Palm, and there's a tiny strip on either side of the screen that isn't protected. Doesn't bother me much, really, since I won't be using the stylus there.

I plan on going later today.. I guess I'll open them up right in front of the people and if they dont' like it, they can just give me back my money (I see that happening since CS at best buy don't seem to care that much.)

Expensive, yes, but I don't feel like dealing with peeling off my own cut ones from something else. Maybe later, but not now.
