i know this has probably been discussed before, but what is required to hook a us robotics v.90 56k modem to my visor deluxe. just curious, but if the solution is relatively cheap (<$30) i might try it out.

thanks

You can use the serial cradle with a null modem adapter or a MarkSpace Modem DataCord.

If the modem has a 25-pin connector, I'd get the DCH-M2.

DCH-M2

Yes indeed, the DCH-M2 is just perfect for that application. I myself hook up a Visor Deluxe to an external US Robotics 56K modem with that cable.

If you have a Platinum, there is also a way to hook up a DCH-M9D to the same external modem, which I also have working.

Another source

Another source of cables to connect a Visor Solo, Deluxe, or Prism to an external modem is:

www.pcables.com

The PDCH-M2 will directly connect to an external modem. If you have a Platinum, you can get a PDCH-M9D-6 and adapt it to the 25 pin connection.

Handspring reduced the price of their springboard modem to $40.00. That sounds easier than an external modem.

External modem vs. Springboard

It's probably just as easy either way to connect an external modem vs. Springboard modem; to me it's a question of saving money by utilizing an old external modem which I already have vs. buying a new one.

I understand, but the solutions given all involved cables in the $30.00 range. I thought the Springboard modules $40 price sounded good by comparison.

Also, you can use a keyboard on the serial port while using a springboard modem.
