Hey,
i just got a nextel i85s cell phone and got the wireless internet service. i am looking for either a complete cable or an adaptor (to use with their data cable) to connect my phone and visor platnium. i know the phone has a built in browser but Blazer and Avantgo are WAY better. if anyone knows where i can get one PLEASE let me know. thanks.

I have found them

you can go to www.thesupplynet.com. Then on the right hand side search under handspring. They have a cable listed with an ETA of 9/30/01. it will cost US$40.

The cellular telephony (as opposed to the on-demand, 2-way-radio-like IDEN) component of Nextel is GSM. Most of their phones operate on the US 1900 MHz frequency only. They offer a single model, the I2000plus, that is compatible with the 900/1800 MHz standard used in most of the world - I am not sure which frequency it uses. Also, their phones will not accept non-Motorola SIM cards.

This information is from Motorola's iDEN website

"The i85s will operate on iDEN 800 MHz, however the SIM can be placed in a GSM phone for international use.

The i2000 and i2000plus work on GSM 900MHz networks in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East and The iDEN 800MHz networks in Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, and the Philippines. "

So - it seems I was wrong about the 1900 MHz band.

The following is is my personal, unsubstantiated pronouncement which I however believe to be true: the i85s is not going to make any calls outside of the iDEN 800 Mhz network.

What is unclear - could you place the SIM in a domestic 900 MHz GSM phone (such as the Visorphone) and have it work?
