Cool Names?

Comes Monday we'll probably find out about which names they're going to use. I still stand by my original posts which are ACE and COLUMBIA. 16 MB and 45 MHz for the COLUMBIA.

If you walk into Staples, Office Max, etc. they're just beginning to stock up on the back to school supplies.

Highend technolust crazed users like most of us on the board would buy an new unit (assuming we had the dough) any time of the year. These models would be priced correctly for High School and college age students.

The really relevant part about these articles if true, is that (for most of us at least) the new models are: B..O..R..I...G. No color, no wireless nothing flashy. They may, and probably will have grey scale and more memory, but if this is true, nothing to excite me or make me run out and buy one.

Actually, I'm hoping the articles are wrong!

Wow! Around here (Georgia) some schools have been back for one - two weeks. I am referring to HighSchool and under though. I believe it is a bit longer before College Students return.

WOW!, around here in minnesota most all schools start sometime in early september. for me middle school starts on the sep, 4. the drag about our school district is that they have ways so we get the fewest possible vacation days. for example, school usually starts the day after labor day right? well they count that as a vacation day. they also tie good friday in with another holiday. they also count the last day of school as a vacation day. in fact, our school does not reserve any snow days. our school hasnt had a snow day in 10 YEARS!. they say the wind chill needs to be -70 degres for them to cancel school. another day as i was going to school they were directing all the 1000 different students into rooms that had the most windows because the school didnt have power, i would never have thought they would let kids come to school when no one had no idea when the power would come back. school starts at 8 am ant ends at 2:45pm for me and the power didnt come back for 3 or 4 hours. they said that if the power hadnt come back by lunch they would send us back home in the buses. i so much wished i had brought my visor to school with me that day because they let us play games until the power came back, but since im too imbaresed to bring it to school i didnt, no one i know has an organizer like me, and most teachers probaly dont know about them so this year im hoping to gain enough courage to bring it to school (8th grade).

Robert, have you asked any of your teachers about handhelds? Someone might actually have one. As for being embarrassed, that is too bad
Maybe if you did bring it to school, other kids would want one too.

I am an elementary teacher who uses a visor plat and a lot of my friends (even an 8th grade math teacher... the rest are high school teachers) use some kind of handheld device. You sound like an organized, smart student Good luck this year.

Next week is THE busiest week for my store in central Illinois! The U of I students come back this weekend, so the extra 40,000 people helps a little. Also, we have a popular back to school item, TI-83+ for $15 less that anyone else, which almost every HS or college student needs.(actually they all need Visors!) And of course on Sunday: new handheld prices!

Getting back on track, CNET's article is right insofar as the Visor was introduced at retail in April 2000.

Yeah, but unless they've changed things in recent years, Berkeley is on the semester system, so they start in August and get out in May, so not all of the UC's get out in June. Cal's always gotta be just a little different...

It just depends on where you live, or what school you go to. My nephew started school (2nd grade) in North Carolina on Monday. I start school (University of Maryland) Aug. 29th, and I get out in June. I previously attended BYU (in Utah) and they start mid to late August, and they get out in mid April. So, it just depends on where you go to school.

I don't think that they will miss the back to school crowd anyway. Most kids get their supplies in the first couple of weeks, after they find out what they need. As for college students, they get their supplies when they have money (which for me is never)...but I will still probably buy one, because I currently don't own an organizer.

well, I have an idea for the visor flip...I think that this will be the color version of the visor edge. This is because of the flip cover...any thoughts?

Point taken. I shouldn't have said that HS missed the back to school season entirely, but they are certainly coming in on the tail end of it. Schools in my area kick in next week.

The education market can be very profitable. That's one reason why Apple released its new iBook so early in the year, rather than waiting for MacWorld in July.

The horse is named Friday.

The woman's child "murdered" her as it was being born.
