Using IR with a module inserted

I am trying to find out if it is possible to use IR applications while there are modules in the Visor (Deluxe). I have tried it with the visorphone and the Xircom 56k modem. It states that the Serial port is blocked by another program.
Any Ideas???

Thanks,

Typically, IR is disabled when there is a serial-enabled module in use since the Visor only has one serial "port" that can be active at any given time.

IR does not work with modules inserted, as explained.

And if you buy anything from OmniRemote, never send an email to them!

I asked three times already about the IR not working with the VP in inserter. Never got an answer. Not even a "sorry it does not work".

Money not very well spen. Rather go and buy a Philips Pronto.

I use the IR hotsync at work with my Visorphone on.

I think the OS divert some of the IR functions back to the IR port when using the Beam or Hotsync functions.

Any other application, including IR and Serial keyboards fail if a Springboard module is inserted.

The other day I used IR to access email via my mobile phone with a Soundsgood module inserted (but not playing). No trouble there.

I don't know why the IR Port wouldn't work correctly after you remove the VisorPhone. Mine works fine in that case. You might have messed up some IR settings. Regarding the VisorPhone, it's not all modules that take over the IR/wired serial port. However, the VisorPhone software does. They do that to make the VisorPhone look like a wired/IR modem so no communications software needs to know about the VisorPhone to work with it. Basically, the VisorPhone hijacks all IR/wired serial communications and reroutes it to the VisorPhone builtin modem. A modified version of the ComLink program defeats this redirection to allow Omniremote and other IR and wired serial applications to work. Note that the VisorPhone works with keyboards, and hotsync, but otherwise doesn't work with serial connected devices without manually disabling this VisorPhone feature. The modified version to which I refer still has a problem (I'm still hoping the author will fix it) in that once you run ComLink, you can't use the VisorPhone modem without removing and reinstalling the VP module (there's a checkbox in the application to disable ComLink but it doesn't do anything).
