Global Pulse is specifically designed for those Nokia models that have data capabilities, but no built in modem - that includes the 6110 and 6150, and may well include the 6190.
It effectively sits in your Palm OS device and responds to all the AT commands that software would send to a modem, and deals with the mobile phone via the serial port.
I've played with it a fair bit, since I had a 6150 when I first got my Visor. And no luck at all.
You can't persuade Global Pulse to use the IR port instead of the serial port, since the 61xx phones don't do IRdA, and don't understand data that way.
And the Visor serial connector isn't the same as the Palm; simply put, I couldn't get it to work.
