What's the best way to protect the writing surface on a Visor.

I had a Palm III(actually several) and found that the Palm stylus eventually scratched the Graffiti area, despite keeping the surface clean. Write Rights sound good, but expensive, and I'd imagine they'll diminish slightly the screen image of the Visor Prism I'm buying.

I heard about Scotch tape, Satin brand. But once I used a different model of Scotch brand tape, and when I peeled it off after a day or two, found the Graffiti surface felt as if it had been stripped off somewhat, even after I cleaned it.

My best luck is with using the Cross digital writer (felt type) pens, but I find the harder tipped stylus is faster to write with.

What do other people think?

I use WR's for the Palm IIIc. They work great, with no distortion. Also, the one on my BVDx is still going strong with VERY minimal wear. I was surprised at that.

Well, do NOT use the WriteRights on the Prism.
It gives a weird effect, almost like color waves going
down the screen. I really like the WR for my deluxe,
but on the prism they suck. I wish they didn't since
the prism's black screen when off.
really shows off "spots" more than on the deluxe

I get that weird effect too.. But I'm still using them because when the next Super cool visor comes out, this one has to be perfect to get top dollar for it!! Now, Joe V, Did you say WR for IIIC??? Is this a special one that doesn't produce these wavy rainbow halucinating effects?? Let us know!

Yes, the ones for the IIIc! You have to make sure that they lay FLAT on the screen. I also got that rainbow effect the first time I put one on my prism. I pulled that one off and started again, this time I was very careful to avoid bubbles AND wrinkles. A wrinkle was the culprit the first time. My second try was a beauty, very clear and distortion free. I don't worry about the really little bubbles, because those go away in a couple of days for some reason. It was a little painstaking to apply, but the results are worth it, I can now scribble and tap to my heart's content! Good luck, guys!

hmm.. I used my WR's from my Visor Dlx, I've pretty much become a pro at applying them. I'll look for the IIIc WR's.... They better be different!!! Or I'll have like 2 years of WR's!!

Cool

I couldn't find WriteRights for Palm IIIc in local stores, either so ordered mine from Onvia.com. They sell it for $19.99 & shipping is free. I've bought my MMC for MiniJam from them a couple weeks ago, too.

Thumbs up

I'm currently using the WR for the IIIc too (on my IVX). The difference is that they are essentially clear. I'm very impressed with the appearance and durability. I've had this first clear WR on much longer than I ever had any other WR on. They "polish" very nicely too. I had trouble finding them in stores, but eventually saw them in Best Buy. They're pricey, but they do a great job.

WR for Prism

I sent Concept Kitchens an email asking which model they rec for the Prism. Why did they put out a separate version for the IIIc? Were the WR's damaging the screen, or did they need a diffent tint or something to go with a color screen, perhaps.

The regular WriteRights Cloud the screen a bit (anti-glare). That is why they make a clear WR for the Palm IIIC

Just so you guys know, you don't have to get ones just for the IIIc. You can use WR's for the Windows CE devices. I use them on my Deluxe. I always liked the clarity. These seem to work great for me and only have a small gap in the sides in the place where you never write. You cannot even fit the stylus in between that is how small the gap is. There is also a small gap at the very bottom and also is out of the way.

I actually used these and have never seen WRs for the palm. I thought they all looked good. A friend got a Visor and bought Palm WRs and WOW!!!!!!!!! I could not believe how cloudy the display was. There is a HUGE difference between regular ones and ones for the Windows CE devices. I would never use those cloudy ones on my PDA.

WriteRights work nicely

Just to answer my own initial posting, I put a WriteRight (the version for the Palm IIIc) on my Prism. It fits and works just fine. There's no rainbow affect or other distortion.

The screen is less sensitive to my Cross Digital Writer pen, which is a soft tip, so I'll need to use a different stylus. Otherwise, I feel a lot better protecting that shiny black screen!

Talking

Great. I ordered some from Onvia.com the other day. I also noticed they sell the IIIc ones at Best Buy for $25 a pack (Onvia is $20 and free shipping). Just thought I'd let people know.

IIIc WrightRights

Ditto to all of the comments on how improved the screen clarity is on using IIIc designed WrightRights for the Prism.

I little tougher to install and keep the airbubbles out but well worth it.

Arrow

At Amazon.com it's on backorder. I just checked Onvia site, and they still have in stock. I ordered on last Thursday night, and got it on Tuesday Works pretty good. Graffiti recognition improved, too.
