Which Module for Earthlink?

Which module is best for earthlink? We have visor deluxe.

Don't you think that Earthlink is the best judge of what module is best for it? I mean, we don't know anything about it's likes, dislikes, political affiliations, religious beliefs......I mean can we really say what is best for Earthlink? It has feelings too, ya know. It's not dead inside. Not like some people I could mention. What? Oh....oh, that's just great. Why did you have to say that!? Now I suppose you'll tell me that you don't really want Earthlink's mother to come live with us. Wha....? It was your idea in the first place! Oh......oh......well, fine! Just don't do me any favors in the future, OK!? Fine!

I have a Thinmodem+, and it works like a champ for connecting to Earthlink. Actually, any of the wired modems (Handspring, Xircom) should be just fine. They each have their good points. You just have to look at what you are going to use it for.

The Thinmodem+ has 8MB of Flash memory and runs off the Visor batteries, so if you need some more storage and have rechargable batteries, it's great.

The Xircom has it's own batteries, which makes it bigger than the Thinmodem+, but it doesn't drain your Visor batteries in less than an hour. And I believe it's the only one that has fax capabilities.

The Handspring modem has it's own batteries, and I believe it's the cheapest.

This is my own opinion, but I think that a casual user who checks e-mail from time to time would do just fine with the Handspring modem. I do a little bit more, checking e-mail, syncing AvantGo, some web pages and Instant Messaging and I had rechargables for my Deluxe and now I have a Prism, so the Thinmodem+ was a good fit. The Xircom seems to be geared to a heavier user. Long battery life, fax, etc. If you plan on being online a lot, that's your ticket.

Of course, all the above is my own opinion, and subject to change when the cold/flu medication wears off.
