Hi.

Quick answer top some of your questions:

You'll want a good durable case. Check out Rhinoskin.com they have some great cases (some very expensive--$100 for the titanium case [I own it and like it]), but they also have some very good cases, cheaper at $30. Check it out.

Check on Palmgear for s/w. There is some good homework management s/w, also, you might wish to check out the spreadsheet QuickSheet. Also, there is a nice Word add-in that converts Word docs to Palm OS docs (forgot the name, but its on Palmgear). Also, Tealdoc is a good doc reader. Try TopSecret or cryptopad for encrypting private stuff on you Visor. Also, you might want to get TealLock for additional security.

I'd get the Handspring Backup Module.

Careful of theft.

Hope this is some help.

Cool

You should get a copy of Four Zero http://www.mobilegeneration.com/products/fourzero/

I havn't used it, but I've heard a lot of praise for it. The program keeps track of homework assignments and your current grade point average in each class. About $15

I prefer the Rhodiana case, to protect the Visor from damage. http://www.rhodiana.com

For games, try AncientRed http://www.palmgear.com/software/sh...amp;prodID=7425
and Void http://www.palmgear.com/software/sh...cfm?prodID=7015

If you are going to take notes, I'd look into the Stowaway portable keyboard http://hs.palmgear.com/products/pro...amp;prodcatID=6

I used my Visor for school last year. Although I didn't use any games in any of my honors classes because I had to work in there . I use an OtterBox2K ($9), works fantastic. You could run it over with your car and you'd be fine. This is a good safety feature, my friend's bookbag has actually gotten ran over by his car. Black tire marks all over a white bookbag make for an interesting conversation piece at lunch though . I am keeping my Stowaway in a Mead Soft-Binder type deal--we'll see how that goes. But for the low price I highly recommend an OtterBox2K (or the slightly more expensive 3K if you want more room vertically).

Good Luck In Your Classes

I will be a sophomore too. I used my visor through most of Freshmen year. I dont use scheduling software, instead I set it all up in memo pad. I find that easier than a lot of the programs i tried, plus you can set it up the way you would like it. I didn't really need any large amount of protection. I used the leather case that came with the visor. Just make sure when your in school that you never put it in your back pack. Make sure it is always in your pocket. It is very easy to have things stolen in a school. As for games, just do some trial and error. There are so many out there and you have 8mb try as many as you want.

I forgot to mention in my earlier post (and now am reminded by skaman35) what software I use. I tried the grade programs but they didn't work for me. I would forget to put something in and it would be incorrect. It was a lot easier to just ask a teacher what my grade was and if I could have a printout. I mostly plan on using my Visor for note-taking and paper writing in study hall (Stowaway) this year.

On the subject of security, I leave my Visor in my bag in it's Otterbox and feel pretty safe. If I leave my bag unattended to go run an errand I ask someone to keep an eye on my bag though. I live in the suburbs though and we don't have to worry about security as much as some other schools do. You'll have to make the call on how secure your school is.

3.RadioShack Recharger and NiMH batteries
a.E^2 Titanium batteries(emergency backup)

6.Noah Dictionary

7.PeditPro (the best editor for your SPK)

8.Yesterday (for grades)

Lightbulb

Four.Zero is really good. I used it last year. Worth the money. Yesterday,to me, isn't as good. Plus, with the new vesion you can now export to Excel docs.

DateBk4 is the mother of all PIMs, replaceing all of the basic programs.

The GoType keyboard is cheaper then the stowaway, but the keys are a little small.

For springboards, if you don't have the Deluxe, you have to get some more mem. for AvantGo. (AvantGo will take up all the mem. that your programs need). Also, Tiger Woods golf is great because it "disappears" when the teacher walks by. The Handspring Backup is worth it's weght in gold. When your batt. die suddenly, or are about to, just stap it in and hit "Backup". It's also good when your buddy sends you a game via. IR, and it blows up your Visor.

For a case, i find that your side pocket works best. A Handspring Slim Case is also good for a little cash, drivers licence, and school ID.

The PDA Panache Custom Visor Stylus works really well, and don't forget your WriteRIGHT by ConceptKitchen. These go over your sceen to protect it from all the hords of morons that will want to use your Visor.

By Oct., you'll be able to get the Minstrel S Wireless modem from Wireless companies like OmniSky and GoAmerica. If money is not a option, GET IT. It will turn your Visor into a 8 MB Palm VII, it that will save your life in any boreing situation. You can use programs like AvantGo for web, Eudora for mail, and AIM for AIM. A Must Get.

Where can I get Backup Bist? I can't find it anywhere. I am also getting stuff together for school, I am a University senior. Backups would be a good thing, since I'll be traveling back and forth from an internship, and heaven only knows what could happen.

I'll be a sophomore too, i used my IVDx the 2nd half of my freshman year and it was great.
I would have used Due Yesterday but it kept crashing my visor so i just used todo and memopad.
For note taking you'll probably want a stowaway keyboard...
And i'd just like to take a moment to point out how unfair it is...users of TI graphing calculators use them to cheat all the time on math exams, but we visor users cant because it is technically a computer and therefore could get us suspended...hmmm...
*ITS NOT FAIR*

[clears his throat] Sorry.

Try getting the cord that connects the TI to your computer. Now that easy, better than the stowaway except for the fact that you have to do it at home.

My schools works like this : Once they learn a tech. device is popular, they ban it. It doesn't matter if you really need it. I once got "caught" using a "cell phone" (which have been banned for a long time), which really was my Visor.

The bottom line is : Be care full who you use that thing around: They'll probably not know what it is.
