Just to be clear: in my case I have a startac 7868 dual-mode phone from Verizon. If i go for the Xircom Springboard, I can get the cable I need from Motorola? I could not find any kind of technical spec for the xircom celphone port, so i don't know what to ask for. i'm going to submit requests for this info from Motorola & Xircom; I'll post the answers as I get them.

Interesting. I have a 3COM 3C756 and the cable for a Nokia 6160 phone. I had no difficulty getting that. When I asked Xircom about it they stated, flat out, that the Xircom Springport was *digital only* and would only work with digital phones that had built-in modems. I spoke to several people at Xircom at different times, and they all told the same story.

Now you're saying that they're not just discouraging me, they flat out lied.

Its my understanding you just want a cable to connect them to get on the web in digital areas (As opposed to the fellows who are disscussing actual cellular modems that aren't actually on the phone).

For this you can simply get, for $30 + $6 shipping, a cable from someone on this board that will connect the 2. He has a website at: cables4pdas.com.

If you need a cable, you can buy some of them here:

Sweet! When did you buy that? I've had trouble finding that solution on 3com's current website.

I ordered the cables some time between last June and now. I don't recall the date, or where I got them from... it might have been Hello Direct.
