Question

My father is looking to get a Visor or Palm (pushing him towards Visor), but he wants to know how to get his data from his Sharp Wizard, Model OZ-9520 (the software he says is Rupplynx for Wizard 2.5) into the Palm Desktop......

Can anyone point me in the right direction.....thanks in advance!

Ryan

I believe PumaTech's "Intellisync for Sharp Electronic Organizer" should be able to transfer data from the Sharp in the Visor.

I assisted a co-worker last year using this with a different Sharp Organizer, and it transferred very smooth.

If his current software supports it, he could also try dumping all his data to his hard drive as a CSV file (comma separated). Intellisync for Palm will be able to import this data into the Visor.

Intellisync is an expensive way to go for a one-time conversion.

I imported my Wizard data to Palm by exporting the Day-Timer (the PIM that Wizard uses) Contact info to a csv, and then import into the Palm desktop. It was pretty simple.

Well, when I upgraded from the OZ-9520 to the Visor, I did it the Hard(easy) way. I hadn't bought any synch software for the Sharp, and just entered the info one at a time.

I felt that spending the $60 - $80 was too much for a one time use, and it gave me a chance to get used to using the Visor. I use Fitaly for entry, and it was a nice training example for using it.

BTW, if your dad is interested in selling his OZ-9520, there are a number of people out there that are interested in buying old ones so that they can synch between them for backup. I sold mine over the web for $100. A lot less than I paid for it, but a nice trade-off for something that I had used for 4 years.

There is a chatroom on the Sharp website (if I remember correctly - it has been a few months.) and I posted my interest in selling it there.

Late last year I managed to scrape my data off a Sharp OZ 9500 (I think it was) onto the Visor. The software you have should be sufficient to save to a CSV file. Then you can map the fields on the import. I used the backup file, and just massaged the data in a text editor until it would map correctly.
If you have hundreds of entries, it's worth it.
