quote: A few questions though. Is the visor well protected? Is the visor easy to use in the case? How is the workmanship with this case?
The Visor is definitely quite well protected. I don't have any experience with any other cases, so there may be some people who would argue with me on that statement. As you can see there is no protection on the side, top, or bottom of the Visor, except that the edges of the case stick out a little farther than the Visor, so if, for instance, I dropped it, and it landed on the top on a flat surface, I think everything would still be fine. I was hoping that there would be something sturdy sewn into the front of the case to provide some ridgidity and protection, but there isn't. In fact, if you don't have anything in the pocket on the inside front, when it's snapped shut and you look at it from the side, the two corners above and below the snap actually stick up a little. So, you can tell that the front cover is not terribly sturdy and quite flexible. However, my driver's license, Visa check card, and AAA card provide plenty of ridgidity for the front cover.
I saw one post from someone wondering if, since the front cover was so flexible, snapping the tab would put pressure on the Visor's screen. First of all, it's a small snap - not the large kind like some of us were expecting. Secondly, you don't have to put much pressure on it at all to snap it. That's not to say that it's weak and will unsnap easily. I think it holds as well as it needs to, and like I said, if you've got some cards in the pocket, that will provide plenty of protection.
The Visor is plenty easy to use in the case - no more difficult than when it's not in the case. I was a little worried that the tab would get in the way, but when I'm writing in the graffiti area, the tab is well above my hand. It does touch the side of my hand when I'm writing above the graffiti area, but I don't do that very much, so that doesn't bother me. I've never felt like I wanted to remove the Visor to use it more easily.
As far as workmanship goes, it seems to be pretty good. There were no frayed edges, threads, or misaligned pieces of leather. The leather seems to be of good quality. However, the darker part of the case is that soft leather that's kind of like suede and it seems to get marks on it fairly easily. Not big glaring marks, but just small ones that you can only see if you hold it in the light a certain way. It's that kind of leather that if you use the palm of your hand, and rub direction across it, and then use your finger to rub the opposite direction, you can see darker and lighter colors.
The only complaint I have about it is that the stylus isn't easy to remove from the slot in the case. The Visor is pretty close to it, so it doesn't give you much room to maneuver your fingers around the top of the stylus sticking out of the slot.
But that's my only complaint. All in all I really like it, and think it was a worthwhile purchase. It has replaced my wallet, since I think it looks very nice, and that it provides some good protection for my Visor, as well as a place to put my license and check card (which is not to say that it can fit in my back pocket - it can't. I always carried my wallet around since I find it uncomfortable to sit on a lump). It's much easier to simply unsnap and open the case than it was to remove the slip on case, find somewhere to put it, remove the hard cover, snap the hard cover on the back, and start using the Visor. I recommend it.
Hope that answers your questions.
