GPS - Interstate Maps for long trips? (Not by county)

I'd like to take a long trip (800mi) on the interstate and want to load a single (or a limited quantity) of maps that would allow me to follow the trip on GPS. Everything I've seen so far, Map Companion with Magellan unit, or Mapopolis, requires me to load every single county I'll pass through. Not only is it difficult to get all those maps, but the memory required for all of them is quite high.

If I could load a single map for the county of origin, another for the county I'm headed to, and another map for the highway along the way (maybe a 5 mile wide corridor around it would be nice) then I'd be set.

Has anyone run across anything that provides something like this?

To my knowledge, this doesn't exist. How I wish...

Cool Mapopolis State Maps

I had the same question and got an answer back from Mapopolis support. Check out:

http://www.mapopolis.com/us.zip

for two US maps.

ebonair - Thanks. Now I wish I knew what that was. Are the dot's supposed to mean something?

Question Huh?

I am not quite sure what dots you are talking about? The link I gave should point to a zip file wthat has two US maps. You can get them at http://www.mapopolis.com/us.zip

If you don't see the link, email me and I can send it to you via email.

On either of those maps I get the outline of the stated (borders) and some cities depicted by dots, but I have no interstates or other roads shown. Am I missing something? I'd like to be able to drive from Ohio to MA this summer and follow my progress on a decontented Interstate map, instead of having to load each county as I come upon them.

Lightbulb Ahh

Ahhh, I get it. Sorry. I don't think that Mapopolis has any maps like that. You might try the link from j762538 post. There is also another possible solution http://www.pathaway.com will let you pull in and use your own maps. This may be time consuming though...

Good luck!

That should have been states, not stated.
