I just received my GoType Pro. Like it but it will take some getting used to.

There is on the lid in the middle a 'latch'. If you push up on it, it will swing loose. What is it for? is it a potential support?

That little swing out panel is to allow the Visor to fit into the keyboard even with a large Springboard module installed. If you swing out that little panel and then put your Visor in the keyboard, you'll see how it nicely exposes the Springboard area. Good thinking on Landware's part
