then what is next? Can the OS be upgraded? Has anyone tried to upgrade to OS4 on their VPL of VPR?

HS uses a modified version of the operating system to allow usage of the propritary springboard slot. So, assuming that you can re-flash the rom (major assumption), you'd need an OS version that HS wrote, or one that was modified to support SB modules.

I have the feeling you may not see that any time soon. Hope we do though.
