Exclamation

From Wired News:
http://www.wired.com/news/business/0,1367,39456,00.html

>Best said other upcoming Handspring modules include a GPS
>module, a pair of high-color digital cameras and a module
>that enables it to connect with a video projector.

If this is true, I will be in laptop-free heaven! I mean, MP3 modules are cool, and a cellphone module is useful, but a video projector adapter module is a true business application. Having to give presentations is the last thing that ties me to my laptop, forcing me to lug it around from conference room to conference room and from one business trip to another. Wow...I can't wait!

P.S. for a discussion about putting presentations on your palm, see this thread:

Sounds cool. But what would such a presentation look like? Greyscale? 160x160 Pixels? Or is that thing only available on the Visor Prism?

I know that InFocus was looking into a module. I was part of a question group that originated from this site. I haven't heard anything else from them (and they never sent me my free gift!) but if I recall correctly they did ask about the option of color, text, and pictures. I have a mind like a sieve, so that's about all I remember for now.

I was involved aswell (didn't receive my free gift either! ) but i called them back a few months after the survey and was told that they've put the idea on the back burner and had no plans to continue currently. I was VERY disappointed. Could this be them in the article? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

They were asking what type of storage media i'd prefer on the module and whether i wanted to see the slide on the visor screen or just notes. I prefer having notes on the visor screen and the actual slide sent to the output which i'm assuming would plug into a monitor or LCD projector. That way it would just be a matter of converting your presentation into .jpg format (which is possible now!) and loading it up on the module via CF, MMC, SD cards. Then assigning notes to each .jpg and using the up/down buttons to navigate.

now that i think about it, FireViewer could be used for this nicely. It supports 16-level greyscale and notes for each image. All the module would have to do is port the image to an output line! and the neat thing, because it would be stored on the card, it can remain in colour!

hmmm.....i think this would require a 'battery' module type.
