hey,
well...i finally decided to buy a Visor the day when i was in Best Buy. It was between the Visor and a portable sony mp3 stick =) I bought the Visor cause it was cheaper [like $220 cheaper!] and it was pretty awesome. I have been using it for a few days now, and I love how it works. Syncing it to my comp and automatically having AvantGo put all my webpages to the Visor is great. Not to mention the software I can put on it =) But, I have been thinking...is this going to work in the long run? I have tried running some apps on the Visor, and they just don't work. Is this worth getting a Palm IIIe? All palm OS software works perfectly with the palm iii series, but are us visor's getting left out?

Also, what do you guys use your Visor for? I'm a high school student and i got mine basically cause i wanted a new toy. I dont have much use for the adress book, todo list, calander, etc, but I wanted it more getting up to date news, programs, and for fun. I have never had a PDA before, except some piece of **** windows ce one that is really bulkey and doesnt work [damn you microsoft!]. But, i'm really liking this, so i wanted to know what people use theirs for...

Lastly, a few quick questions...how do i:
1. use the backlight when its dark out?
2. delete files off it? i can add em, but i cant figure out how to delete stuff off em
3. find a good place to find programs/games for it?

thats about it...sorry if this is kinda lengthy, but hey..im a visor user now so i'll be kickin here for a while =)

- Bryan

*[no im not a nerd! Nerds dont wear polo *jeans/tommy hilfigre/nautica clothes =)]

You seem a little insecure =P

*1. use the backlight when its dark out?

Press and hold down the power button on it will come on

*2. delete files off it? i can add em, but i *cant figure out how to delete stuff off em

Click the options button on the grafitti area ( lower left hand corner one ) and in the pull down menu go to App and delete. You can also beam from here and catagorize programs.

*3. find a good place to find programs/games *for it?

The best site is probably www.palmgear.com. You can also try www.zdnet.com under their downloads, www.tucows.com under their palm software sections, www.downloads.com under palm OS and even here on visorcentral. Go to the main page and click the software link on the little menu bar. Happy Visorering (Think I made a new word there)

Hey Mallen,
I'm surprised to see another person on VC that lives in Riverside. I didn't think that A) Riverside was that big and B) VC was THAT popular.

Oh, and to the original poster, just to make sure, most my clothes are Abercrombie and Guess, I'm not a nerd am I? I would hate to be mis-classified.

Cool

Mr. Bryan, you might want to read the Visor FAQ at http://www.visorcentral.com/faqindex.php3

It has all sorts of useful info.

For a list of software that the Visor has problems with, check out http://www.visorcentral.com/silindex.php3

The list is actually quite small compared to the thousands of programs out there.

If you are a student, I'd check out a program called Four.Zero at http://www.nathanblack.com/

Apparently, you do want to be classified. Otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned it.

Do you think an entire group of Visor and Palm users would consider you a "dork" because you use a Visor?

Wink

I mostly wear Wrangler, Justin, and Resistol. But I guess most people classify me as a High Tech Redneck.

bryan, actually I can be pretty sure that if it doesnt work on a visor it probably wont work on a palm III they run basicaly the same OS unless of cource there are some hardware issues like ther was with the IR port for OmniRemote. and a few others like dreadling.. but with hundreds of thousands of apps to sift through your be cramped on memory in no time ;')

Programs have to be Palm OS 3.1-compatible to work on the Visor. (Many are!)

I'm not a clothes conscious person at all.

Here's how a true nerd thinks.. Do I buy my khaki's at JC penny on sale and get let's say a new case for my visor, or do I buy one pair of something like levi khakis.. Hmm.. tough choice.

CHeap ass shirt from target (that looks like every other expensive shirt) and waste money on a new game or buy 1 damn shirt from abercrombie. Again, easy choice

It's not really about how you look, but what you do. I love computers and tech toys but I play ice hockey all the damn time and stuff like that. It's how you think are, and if people think you're something else you have to get in their face a bit

Unhappy

Just because I have my glasses taped together and a pocket protector does not make me a nerd! I look just as awsome in a leisure suit and platforms.

Actually, wearing Polo/Tommy Hilfiger/Nautica/etc makes you a trendoid, not a nerd.

Cool

I am the freakist nerd/Geek you will ever meet. I Usually wear a music shirt(manson, tool, NIN, perfect circle, Rage etc) and my generic some kind of shorts/pants. Everybody knows i am weird by the way i dress, but think i am weirder when i pull out my Visor

Hmm, on the clothes (off)topic. I hit the local CostCo and get their Dockers look-alikes. They fit & feel the same, and look damn close, but they only run about $15 a pair instead of $45!

How else could I afford my software habit?
