Have you tried using VirtualPC to get the images? If you can sync via the serial cradle in VPC, I see no reason why the handcam conduit wouldn't work either. With the registry resources in this thread, you should be able to get VPC to do the job.

I don't think u can just IR the image to a mac, as the handcam checks if you have a viewer application present, and then sends both image and viewer if needed.

Unfortunately, with with the Handcam, you pay for what you get, a camera, nothing else. I reckon that extra 50 bux for an EM2 is what pays for all the "Support" you also get walking in the door as a new user... Eyebeam, EyeContact, EyeMail... Sheesh, doesn't ANYONE have a HANDCAM???

Sigh... But I digress, I don't like quicktime and fixed lenses anyway...

HandCam Group

Omnitron:

I joined the Yahoo group lastnight and noticed your presence there

I too am a little envious of the community that the EyeModule users have. I was toying with the idea of sending in my Handcam shots to some of those EM2 photo sites since both image dimensions are the same, and they both have the same "spiral" effect on the fringes of their long range shots. This is where it appears that only the centre of your picture is in focus, and the outter edges look as if you've rotated the camera in a circular motion creating a slight radial motion blur around your subject matter.

I have run into several problems as an XP Handcam user, and reckon I will post my findings as soon as I can get shots to illustrate how to correct the out-of-the-box issues. For instance, did you know this camera was a Xirlink as well? I have to use the Xirlink drivers for the webcam to work in XP, luckily, they're buried away on the cd in a handy location where not even the automatic installer can find them

Thanks again Omnitron, I'll post some shots this week. I'm a cheap camera enthusiast. When I say cheap, I don't necessarily mean in price, as both my casio watchcams cost way more than a couple of EM2s. What I mean however is the low level of quality they yeild because of many contributing factors, the largest being it's size and cmos. Keeping still is the name of the game with these things, and unfortunately, much like the watchcam, pressing the Handcam's dang shutter button is enough movement to throw your whole focus outta whack

staples

I found out that staples is closing out all handspring items. I got two HandCams for 20 bucks each.

same here - saw it in Staples for $20 and told my mom it would be an awesome christmas present.

also picked up a Backup Module for $10 and a nice Chameleon pen-stylus for $7. They've got a thinmodem for $20 too, it looks awesome but I don't have a dial-up connection to use it with.

Thanks for the heads up guys --- mine BROKE a long time ago. For $20, I'll see if I can't hunt one up. Although I never saw them on the shelves locally in the Atlanta area...

If you're travelling anyplace check at Staples there... there's gotta be a Staples with 'em within a half-hour drive of Atlanta.

how'd you manage to break it?

I have an eerie feeling that my Neo will die before the springboards... i am notorious for cracking screens (like with my last two PDA's) but I have been lucky with my Neo.
