OmniRemote SB Module vs. Software only

Anyone using the SB module after using the software only version?
Just wondering if it's worth upgrading to the module.

I haven't used the software version much at all, but I do have the module and there are a couple of advantages. First, and most obvious, you don't have to hold your visor sideways with the screen flipped to point the IR port in the right direction. I can't really comment on range, since I don't have anything to compare to. Probably the neatest thing, though, is the flashlight feature. The springboard hav a surprisingly bright blue LED and a program called "Light" that turns it on. I use it more often than the remote.

I own OmniRemote module. Actually I can't provide any comments about its range. Button training process is complicated and greatly affects the range. I used OR SW about a year ago. I didn't notice great difference between SW only and SB solutions. In both cases standalone RemoteControls show better results (in terms of range).
At the same time SB form factor is convenient. The OR application and user manual are stored in module's flash memory - in RAM you should only keep application's database. IR emitter is placed on back of the Visor - it allows to occasionaly invoke useful functions (like power On or Mute) just by pressing Visor's buttons.
In short - try SW version. If you find it right for you - you can decide yourself is it worth $40 for SB form factor and IR LED resided on back of the Visor.
To mnartker: what is blue LED you are talking about? My module has only one LED - infrared....

My module has 2 LED's. the one on the right (as you hold the module with the sticker facing towards you) is apparently for IR while the one on the left corner of the module lights up blue and is quite bright. The light comes on when I hit an icon on the program launcher which is labelled "light" and stored on the module's ROM. After the light is turned on the Visor returns to the program launcher and can run other programs or turned off without disturbing the light.

It's possible that I have a non-standard module. This is the OR module that was given away for the VisorCentral Christmas Sweepstakes. I may not have bought it on my own, since I don't watch much TV and my remote control situation is well under control, and I would not have been able to justify the cost (like I said, I use the light more often than the remote.) I like doing everything with my Visor, though, so I still dig it.

By the way, my software also has controls for X-10 devices, but apparently no RF transmitter. Are these controls on other OR modules? If so, does anyone have any idea how they can be made use of?
