I recently received the Visor Stylus from PDA Panache. Having previously read the review from VisorCentral (http://visorcentral.com/vcreview.php3?id=8&pv=1) and other posts, I had expected the stylus to "stick" out of the Visor by about 2mm.

On receiving the stylus from PDA Panache, however, the stylus really seems to stick out of the Visor quite a bit. I measured the length and it was a good 4.5 mm out of the Visor! Right now it's not causing me any problems as I am still waiting for the E&B Visor Slipper case but I am just afraid it's just sticking out too long for that case to fit properly.

I just wonder what others' experiences with the "stick out" length of this particular stylus has been?

I received my chrome stylus from PDAPanache last Thurs. I love it!! Anyway the tip of the stylus only sticks out about 2-2.5mm.

From what I hear, there is some variance either in the outside diameter of the PDA Panache stylus (probably not) or the inside diameter of the Visor stylus silo (more likely). In any event, this would explain why the stylus sticks out farther on some Visors. The bottom line is if you can fully seat your stylus in the silo, it will extend out about 2 mm; however, I have heard some comments about the stylus getting stuck and requiring some effort to extract. Also be sure the end of the stylus is completely screwed in (obviously).

My PDA Panache stylus initially was very snug, and would stick out 3mm or so. Now that the silo has streched a little, the stylus seats very well, and you can actually feel the silo "grab" the stylus.

Just got my PDA Panache stylus. I'm quite disappointed in how far it sticks out. Mine is more along the lines of 4-5mm. This is going to prohibit the use of some cases...and it does not look too great either. On the plus side...it writes well...but man...it's just one minor disappointment after another ever since I got my Visor...

I love MY PDA Panache (black). It only sticks up as much as the cover's handle.

Um... it's a nailhead stylus. It's supposed to stick out. If it didn't, you wouldn't be able to remove it. That's kinda the point. No?

robertl1, the point of the stylus sticking out TOO MUCH is the discussion point. From the replies so far, it appears that there is at least 2 different batches of styluses, one which is 2-3mm out of the visor silo and another which is 4-5mm out. It does not seem like a lot on paper but believe me, having a stylus stick out 5mm out of the Visor is VERY awkward and it precludes the potential usage of many 3rd party cases.

I had fully expected the stylus to stick out by a reasonable, not too obtrusive length of 2-3mm but 4-5mm just doesn't cut it for me.

I have emailed my concern to PDA Panache, hopefully they will get back to me regarding this issue.

That's my point too...sticking out a little is ok...but I was all set to order a Ti Slider...and now I'm not sure I can have it and the PDA Panache stylus....it might not close...

Although...until I got the stylus I didn't realize they sold them as refills for pens. I might just get a PDA stylus refill for my MontBlanc...that might solve my problem...

It is EXACTLY 3.175 mm above the case line. Very acceptable IMHO. I think the issue here is imprecise measuring and conversion of inches to mm.

Did you get the chrome or the black stylus? When I reviewed the styli, the black one had a slightly shorter tip than the chrome stylus. I had problems fitting the chrome stylus in the Ti Slider because of the extra length. I contacted PDA Panache and they are shortening the tip in the chrome stylus in future batches.

Thanks for the info James...

Mine is chrome...so I guess I'll e-mail them and see if I can get a shorter tipped one....

I personally don't care hom many millimeters it sticks out...it just looks funny sticking out as far as it does now...and since I'm still using the HandSpring slipcase...it looks like I have a cheap AM transistor radio in my pocket with the sylus sticking up like an antennae....
