Question Hot Sync Help

Hi,

I recently aquired another (used) Prism. And I preceeded to hot sync it in my exsisting cradle. Now I can't complete a hot sync for my original Prism in this cradle. It will ask for my user name from a choice of two, my original and the new one from the other Prism. I always select mine and then it starts the hot sync process, and it runs for awhile and then gives an error message, that the sync was interrupted.

So the short side of this is, I now can't update anything. And I'm very frustrated.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx.

let's see you HotSync log

Copy and paste the most recent two HotSync logs for the Visor that's failing. (Click HotSync Manager | View Log for that). This will give us a clue...

Usually if the sync fails in the way you describe, there's a third party conduit (ex. AvantGo, Epocrates, etc.) failing or a corrupted .prc or .pdb file in the \Handspring\<your user name>\Backup folder. Inside the Backup folder, the file that goes wrong most often is Grafitti Shortcuts.prc but others can go wacky too, resulting in various HotSync errors such as 6410, 4003 and others.

These explanations are likely because you may have accidently or on purpose copied some of the data & backups from the old Prism over to the new one. You may be able to test out this theory by clicking HotSync Manager | Custom and setting the System Conduit, Serivce Templates and Install conduits to "do nothing" for the next sync.
