My Prism's charging light no longer indicates the charging state when it's in the charging stand (this started after my last HotSync). It still charges the battery, but does not flash or stay on. Is this a hardware problem?

My VPR has the same problem. As far as I can tell it is hardware related. I did a hard reset just to make sure, and the problem remained.

I had the same problem, it just died. I called Handspring and got a replacement. (The replacement has the shimmer problem, but my old unit also had a stuck pixel)

What's come to mind..

The cool thing about a rechargeable Visor/Recharging cradle is that there's no real reason to not Hotsync (backup data) on a regular basis. I do it twice a day minimum. I leave it to charge overnight. If you have BackupBuddy you may find the AutoSync (timer enabled Hotsync) a cool feature. I set this app to initiate Hotsync in the morning before I go to work. It's perfect for grabbing news from AvantGo.

Getting back to the point of this... It's a relief that the Prism still charges, but if the LED does not come on solid or blinking, then how will you know if the Prism is charging without turning it on? Don't disregard an LED that doesn't light up while in the cradle with adapter atttached. Have the Prism replaced.

I take comfort in seeing the green indicator if I wake in the middle of the night.

If a lightning bolt separates your battery meter on the viewer, then it is likely charging. If it doesn't charge, and the LED does not come on, try one reset at a time until you notice a difference. This will not likely help an LED that won't light up, but it may get the Prism charging again.

Well the lightining bolt isn't coming on either...it's as if it doesn't even know it's on the cradle. I will try the resets and see what happens! thanks!! Cindy
