Thumbs up

I ordered this case near the end of January. I ordered from Directcase.com, which is a great deal but can take quite a long time to get you your case if they are out of stock. I ordered a Black Slipper Prism. I had a Rhodiana for my Visor Deluxe, so that is my baseline for comparison. I really liked the Rhodiana, but I'm much more satisfied with the Slipper Prism. It appears that a few of the minor improvements made to the Slipper Prism have made it a top case: (1) moving the velcro to the bottom; and (2) removing the plastic over the buttons.

I can't say enough good things about this case. It is very slim and fits the Prism almost perfectly. All of the holes in the leather for the reset pin, the microphone, and for the recharging light are perfectly located and match up nicely. The case fit is very nice... it provides for easy access to the buttons. I didn't like how the Rhodiana had raised edges that seemed to get in the way of playing "game-boy" style (i.e. two thumbs...). The Slipper is pretty low around the buttons and doesn't impede access at all. The back of the Prism is a little "funky" with the curve on the back. I really like how the Slipper Prism fits the back of the Prism. It is a snug fit to the curve, and really is a nice fit.

The velcro was probably the thing I was the most worried about. I'm glad to say that there was nothing to worry about. The velcro seems almost different from any I've tried before. It has a very secure connection, but it doesn't "RRRRRIIIIPPPP" very much when you open it. It is a very short but secure connection, if that makes sense. I have actually gotten to like the velcro more than the snap on the Rhodiana because I can open it with one hand, and close it with a flip of the wrist that swings the top around and makes the connection. There is some problem with "velco dust", but it is very minor and doesn't seem to be happening much (after a week of use.)

The case looks very clean. It is slim and I really like the function of the belt clip. My Rhodiana belt clip snapped after about 6 months of use. I suppose the belt part of this clip could break (because it is plastic) but that is much easier to replace than the stud on the case. The stud is metal and snaps very securely into the belt clip. It fits nice and looks good (as good as a bat belt could, at least.)

Overall, this is the case for me. At $39.95 including shipping (no tax) this is a bargain. I really was tempted to buy a Vaja Prism, but keep in mind that they are $69.90 + $17 shipping. That is more than double the price of the slipper prism... might be worth it, but as I figure it we will be switching to a new model visor within a year or two, and another $80 just doesn't make sense. That is how I justified not going Vaja, at least. Directcase.com is a great place to buy from, provided they have what you want in stock. My wait was long enough to be irritating, but it wasn't their fault, and E&B direct wasn't doing any better.

Talking

I totally agree. Just got my Slipper Prism a couple of days ago and it has been great. I have had many cases with my ole Palm 5000 and the handspring slim case for Prism before the slipper and this one is by far the best case I have used. Hats off VC for the great review and to Brianp for his insight as well.
