I got my wife a 2meg Visor for Christmas. I liked it so much I bought myself a platinum with 8meg.
My wife put all the family birthdates and anniversaries on hers. She added a few games. She's got 5 or six items on her "to do" list. She's barely touched the 2megs on her visor. She doesn't do much with it other than play those games, so I'm not sorry I didn't get her a more expensive model. For her 2meg is more than enough.
Her needs may change, though. If they do, we can always add the 8meg flash module to her Visor. Staples often has web coupons for online purchases, and so you can probably get an 8meg module for $50ish.
I'm a college professor. I've put every faculty member I know, professional contacts, and students I teach in my contact list. To help me remember who they are, I got an eyemodule and have added pictures of each to my Eyecontact listings. I'm the tech advisor for most of my college, so I've downloaded and tried hundreds of applications, just so I can say "I've tried it and it is great (or horrible)", when asked about programs for the palm/visor PDAs. I'm glad I've got 8meg to burn. I'll probably get the 8meg flash module too. I would have regretted starting with the 2meg Visor.
My point? If the Visor owner is REALLY going to use it, get them a model with 8meg. If it's going to be an occasional distraction for them, they'll probably be happy with the 2meg version. And you'll be happy you saved some money.
