Question Visor II

Just curious and wondering.

If you're put in charge of creating the Visor II by Handspring, what are the features you'd put in, and what name would you give it, instead of freakin hard to remember model numbers as with all other PDAs now?

You are so right on the model numbers vs. names. How annoying!

I thought the "Treo" (for three main functions) was pretty clever. And I liked "Edge" (for innovation). Prism (for color) fit in too. I think Handspring has done well with naming devices.

But I lack creativity and have been unable to come up with any myself!

Those Days Are Gone

When I was young, I never needed anyone, and makin' love was just for fun...those days are gone.

I'd like nothing more than the Visor Pro with Palm OS 4. Maybe an updatable OS. But since Palm 5+ is likely to part company with pre-existing hardware I think the upgradable aspect of a Palm device is fleeting.

As for the name, close your eyes and imagine the Sprint logo on your handheld...with nary a Handspring logo to be found. I do like the name "Pinnacle" though.

Yeah, I'd like to see a Visor Pro Color 16MB OS 4. Perhaps in a slimmer case. How I wished they'd just keep one Visor product line running and this would be it. Of course, I'm just dreaming.

Edited in:

I'd like to see the Visor really come with a VISOR this time, as in a flip cover to cover the screen. Oh, and chrome buttons. Oh, oh, and an IR port that' on the top. And NON-SCRATCH PAINT. And VIRTUAL GRAFFITI for more screen space. And VIBRATING ALARM (those tiny silent blinky alarms ARE USELESS). AND LOUDER SPEAKERS.

Visor II!!

- Built-in mp3 player
- colour resolution
- upgradeable os
- infinitely expandable (like springboards)
- maybe a wireless messaging system using infrared or sth... something I can play in class around with friends
- SD/MMC/Memstick/SM card slot
- faster input solution (own handwriting perhaps?)
- EXTRA loud speakers (since the mp3 player's built-in! :P) and loud alarm.. wav-like sounds
- Long lasting batteries with AC adapter option

and the name...

Opulence

I propose PipeDream, VaporWare, or AintGonnaHappen for the name of a new visor.

Those Sprint Visor phones they were giving away have removable Li-ion batteries--

A slick snap in piece---HS designed it??? That's the kind of Li-ion PDAs need----

While we are dreaming...

I'd love a hi-res color screen that can be viewed outdoors, like the CLI PEG-NR70V. Dream on.

As for a name, "Visor" was short for "Advisor". So the name of some historically famous advisor might be appropriate.

My Vision

OK. First it would be the Visor VisionTm.

1. Form factor of the Deluxe (so it fits all my cases and peripherals).
2. 320x320 hi res color screen (similar to the Clie t655)
3. Rechargeable AND replaceable battery (similar to the iPod)--GOOD BATTERY LIFE A MUST
4. SPRINGBOARD slot (or SD)
5. 16MB base RAM
6. OS 4.0 (don't care about 5 for a number of years)
7. 33Mhz Processor (66MHz if it doesn't kill batter life)
8. Modular crade so the recharger can be used separately

That's about it.

Options might be MP3, Voice Recorder, Rocker switch (but that means I can't use my existing Vaja case ), virtual graffiti

the visor platinum, for its speed.
the visor prism for its display.
the visor edge for its size

why cant they do it again?????

200mhz ARM processor (with dragonball 66mhz emulation)
4Mb flash rom
32Mb memory
Springboard
CF/SD slot
HI-res COLOR display
Replaceable rechargeable battery.
mp3 player
voice Recorder
