Question

I'm running Win2K Pro, which has USB support (works well with my Zip drive), on my workstation. Anyone know if the Visor will hotsync with Win2K over a USB connection? I saw a note indicating it might not...

I'm using a couple of builds past RC2, still no success yet. It seems to recognize the fact that the visor is there, but throws some error about "no function driver available".

Well, I thought I'd recussitate this thread, because Win2k is released. Although it is not on shelves yet, those of us in the software industry have had the final released version for quite a while now. Does anyone have any word from Handspring on if/when they will have Windows 2000 software available? Specifically, something that will let me sync to my Win2000 with USB (absolutely necessary) and IR (would be wonderful, but I'm not holding my breath). At the moment, the only way I can sync to my laptop is over the network when I get home, since I just have the one serial cradle, and one USB cradle. And I'd like to upgrade my machine at home to Win2000, but I'm concerned what that would do to me. Can I still do serial syncs on Win2000?

Has ANYONE heard anything back from Handspring on this? I sent email to customer support about 4 weeks ago, and have not received so much as an acknowledgement that they received my note.

I have been in win2k forever and am still waiting for the drivers. I also wrote to them (though i think their [email protected] address is an alias to /dev/null =) Im about ready to read the microsoft wdm stuff and hack up my own driver. Anyone have access to a beta build of the win2k usb hotsync driver?

PS: Registering for BBS's is a pain.

I've looked everywhere that I can and there doesn't seem to be a beta USB driver for the Visor anywhere. The only way to Sync your Visor if your running W2K is:

1.) Use a serial cradle, they work.
2.) Over the network, if you have
one setup with your W2K machine.

I have access to a copy of the W2K DDK if someone would like to play with writing a driver for us. =->

Hi,
I was told by 'Robert' on the HS developer email address that a beta driver for Windows 2000 would be available by the end of January.

.....and what's today's date ?

I can't say I'm at all surprised really.

I've sent them another email today enquiring about the progress of the driver. I'm not really expecting a reply.

<sigh> Starting to think about switching to Palm now, I gave HS a chance and I'm beginning to regret it.

I have been on Win 2000 for more than 3 weeks and I am getting tired of switching over to Win 98 to synchronize.
Come on HandSpring give us our W2K driver!

Question

I too would like to keep this string alive. I also hope that whenever and where ever a driver (even beta) comes available, that Visor related websites (this one included) make it a news link. Windows 2000 is production now, as many have said, and the Visor is production now, as I have a released one purchased, and in my hand. I have only a USB cradle, as that is all they chose to ship. Now how about some software to use it?

Download the latest desktop software and hey presto!
From http://www.handspring.com/support/t...ot_win95_nt.asp

If your computer is running Windows 2000, you must download the latest version for the Palm Desktop from the Handspring web site here. To see if you have the latest version of the software that works with Windows 2000, you should check to see which version of the HotSync Manager you are using on your system. Confirm that you have the correct version of the Handspring HotSync Manager installed.

1. Click on the HotSync icon in the Windows system tray and click the About option. The version of HotSync Manager should be 3.0.2Hb.

Meta_dave: Did you check the date on howarj01's post. It was before the drivers were released. I'm sure he has them by now.
