Angry What happened to Memoware?!?

I went to go find a few more books for my VPL this afternoon when I came across a disturbing sight, Memoware.com no longer. Actually, it does exist, but not as a place where one can find tons of books about almost every subject from a biography of Napolean to common oxymorons, but as a mirror for Handmark's site. This can't be true!

The world has come to an end!

Thats the worst part of it. There was absolutely nothing leading up to this that indicated that a change like this would happen. It like somebody burned down the local library before a class' research paper assignment was due. And I don't even remember the address for a quick and cheap document converter. Maybe I can convert Project Gutenburg docs to Word files then send them to my palm via Wordsmith then save them to my Memplug for cSpotRun to read. But what about TomeRaider files and iSilo premade files.

Definitely expect many of the document reader makers to gripe about this if this change is permanent.

I have emailed the webmaster at Handmark using the link provided on the current and hopefully temporary memoware front page. Hopefully I can get this all sorted out.

Talking As quickly as it came,it left

Like an invading alien army, just as quickly as Handmark came, it has now retreated. Memoware is now back to the way it was. Crisis averted.

Here's a reply I got from Handmark:

To assist our longtime online partner, Memoware, we have recently begun providing back-up server capacity. Due to a server problem this afternoon, some users were inadvertently re-directed to the Handmark sit. This problem has been corrected as of 4:20 p.m. Central time.

Wow- Deja Vu!

Someone logs into a sight, has a problem- posts the problem- many log onto said sight to verify problem- bedlam ensues...

... a few hours later, the glitch is resolved, peace is restored. Everyone sighs deeply.

Rapid spread of information is a two-edged sword, isn't it?

Post MemoWare Beta

Hi All,

The below url will take you to a new MemoWare:

http://www.memoware.com/mw.cgi?screen=main

After you "log-in", you can set yourself up a PDA Library Card.
