Hi (again),

What is the status of the InnoDrive/MS?

I'm wondering:

When will it be available?
Around how much is it going to cost?
What colors will it be available in?
Lastly, will you bundle a Memory Stick with it?
And if so what size(s) will be available?

Thanks (again),
Frank Hart

If they're claiming they're not going to release a product named InnoDrive, then maybe that means they actually will.

I just got off the phone with InnoGear inquiring about the InnoDrives. I spoke to a very nice girl on the phone who (I'm guessing) put me on hold to find out. They still say it's not one of their products.

I even explained that I actually saw pictures of the device that was at Comdex 2000 and even mentioned Andre Eisenbach's name who was exhibiting it...

The SixPak Part II?

VaporGear strikes again.

This is why I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick rather than buy MiniJam (the only MP3 Springboard compatible with my Mac...for now) or any other product from InnoGear. They're all bluster and pizzazz, but they never deliver.

I was really excited about the InnoDrive/MS, too. I was wondering if it was going to be "active", unlike the "passive" CF adapters that just hit the market - meaning that Visor users could make use of the "application sticks" Sony is cooking up for the Clie...

Do you mean InnoPocket?
this is not an InnoGear Product
Go to http://www.visorcentral.com/page/0-2-841-2.htm to see about InnoPocket.

In reality most companies generally don't comment on products that are in the process of being developed, and given their past experience I kinda wouldn't fault them for it. Also you may not have been talking to an actual Innogear employee but a 3rd party company that handles sales, shipping and product inquiries for them.. In that case, I could see them not knowing what the product was.

To EricG:

I asked if it was InnoGear or a 3rd party. She said it was InnoGear. As for not commenting on the release of products, they did show off a module at Comdex 2000.

Check http://www.visorcentral.com/page/0-2-816-2.htm for the InnoDrive/DP.

Check http://www.visorcentral.com/page/0-4-63--4.htm for the Interview with Andre Eisenbach.

Check http://www.visorcentral.com/page/0-4-62-1-4.htm for an actual picture of the InnoDrive/MS.

I know they showed the products, I was just question if the person you talked to on the phone was an "answering service" for Innogear, very much like the fact the Geodiscovery and Handspring share the same answering service, depending on which number is dialed, that is who they are at that moment... Lot's of companies use these.. My guess is you were talking to one of those answering service folks, but then again you may not.. (I tend to give the benefit of doubt in these cases as you even said that they didn't know about the product), an answering service would obviously only know about shipping products.

So, here I am again.
Me v. InnoGear.
Everyone *still* not interested in a Class Action Suit? I hope we're all *still* not gonna keep taking their side...
(See the Off-Topic Forum, if you're not privy presently.)
Maybe I'll hunt down a C.A.S. myself.
But I remain, as always, too busy for my own good.
It'd be nice of someone else could take up the mantle.
Lastly, InnoGear is now famous for "showing" products (er, empty springboards w/a sticker on them?) that don't exist.

I'm pretty sure the CE0 must be Satan his/herself.

Anyway, just a "suggestion" -- you don't "have to" do it because "I say," of course ... but whaddaya say meanwhile we'll all just agree amongst ourselves, and anyone we ever meet & can pass the facts along to ... to NOT BUY anything InnoGear ever tries to mkt?

Just a thought.

I don't know about suing them, but I second the motion for a boycott.

I purchased an Innopak 2V right after it came out (and before it was clear to me that the SixPak was vapor), and I really wish I hadn't. There's nothing wrong with the module mind you - I just hate the fact that I gave these jerks any of my money.

As slacker says, Innogear just plain sucks.

bkbk, I still don't agree with your class action lawsuit, but I am with you on the boycott. And I think Satan would use a bit more subterfuge than Innogear has shown.

Not taking any sides, just a comment.

I spoke to our contacts at Innogear yesterday and the Innodrive/MS work is proceding. The module James and I used at Comdex was a working version, we took the Stick out of the module, put it in a Sony Laptop, transfered some Palm Applications to it (right in Windows Explorer), and put the MemoryStick back into the InnoDrive. "AutoMove" was not enabled, but we could transfer the file to the Visor's main memory and launch it.

I received an email from InnoGear about this, and basically InnoGear is not going to comment on upcoming products until they are ready to do so. If you ask them about a product that they don't have on their products page, they may deny knowledge about it until they are ready to do so.

InnoGear has been burned before for announcing things too soon, and they are trying to keep from doing that again.

When InnoGear is ready for formal announcements, you can bet that we will be reporting on them.

Thanks for the update marcus and James. And I don't feel foolish, sassyvisorbabe. If Innogear has turned over a new leaf they're going to have a hell of a time convincing quite a few VC members. If their PR people can pull it off I'll be impressed. They should take lessons from BlueNomad.

Angry some help desk training, perhaps

Someone at Innogear needs to get their head out of their posterior and get everyone on the same page. It makes them look pretty idiotic when crap like this happens--particularly after the six pack fiasco.
