Who else?

Ok things have slowed down on the Edge board....so...

Am I the only one who has a springboard adapter for each springboard module?

This really means that I don't have to mess around with 2 extra pieces for a springboard module...whenever I get a new one, I order out an addt'l adapter, and put the two together and they stay that way.

Thus negating having the 2 parts, its really just 1 slightly larger springboard module...

Oh, and while we're on the subject...why is it ok for the iPaq's to have HUGE sleeves that are hailed as innovative, allowing the iPaq to be small, sleek, and appealing...but yet for the Edge its completely ridiculous? Just don't get it! The Edge gets a bad rap for doing something that is (supposedly) so awesome on the iPaq...

I only had an 8mb backup, so I kept it in the sleeve.

I don't know if you're the only one, but I don't. The backup module lives in mine, and on the rare occasion I use a different springboard, it's no big deal to swap.

If I was using springboards other than the backup, I could understand this, but having to use a sled has greatly reduced my desire to use springboards.

I don't get it either. I'd never get an iPaq for that very reason. I only _thought_ it was a bad idea before having an Edge. Now I _know_ I have no use for sled expansion.

Lightbulb It must be costly!!!

Hey,

A sled for each module? That seems to be costly. I don't find it a big deal to just switch modules. Also the ipaq sucks it's big and heavy as it is. The only reason that the edge had the sled was because handspring was not ready to get rid of springboards yet.

Arrow Sled never bothered me either--

I leave dedicated unit springboards in a seperate sled -- Stuff like the recorders

And generally swap memory springboards in and out as needed.

I do leave the main backup springboards in sleds all the time -- just for convienence.

like many of you, my backup module went into the sled the day i got my edge and has never left it.

but that's all i really needed anyways. i thought about going the PPC route awhile ago or possible m500 series with SD expansion. but after thinking about it, i can't think of any use for more memory for my requirements....call me a traditional PDA user with some great AvantGo channels and some project tracking stuff.

My dad wanted an iPaq believe it or not. And I don't get it too. He says that PocketPC has more software options than Palm (and we all know otherwise) which has started some heated arguments among us two.

I think the reason being that iPaq sleeve is 'innovative' and Edge's sled is 'not' is because the iPaq is already biiig anyway so what's the difference adding another sleeve? The Edge, on the other hand is really small and adding SBs will add too much bulk.

Besides - those who review PocketPCs are normally from Windows-based or WinCE magazines that used Win CE for too long and have probably never played with Palm OS before.

So its extremely 'innovative' for PocketPCs devices.
