Question want to know more about Visor Edge

Hi, All!!

I want to know more about Visor Edge (especially battery performance, screen, cradle and accessories) but I want to know from the Edge's user experience. Are you satisfied with Visor Edge you're using?, Anybody can tell me about everything related with Visor Edge?

Thanks All.

My biggest complaint about the Edge after having owned one for almost a year is the sled. It wasn't an issue intially, but I'd have thought that there would be a better solution by now (integrating an add-on thinner sled with a flipcover would have seemed to be a no-brainer, but evidently sales never justified anyone spending the time). Its susceptibility to static is another problem, but not unexpected with a real metal case.

Feedback here

I use a Silver one and my wife use a Blue one since last May, both with VP all the time. My wife is a typical ignorant to inside technology and just use it after I set it up. A few report on Edge:

1. Cradle: best among all PDA, sleek, good looking, effortless, well balanced

2. Screen: above average for 160x160 mono. Good and durable digitizer feed back without fail or missing pixel so far

3. Paint and button: case hold up well, can withstand beat up or scratch well, hardly a scratch(not happen yet), no tarnish on button(still shinny)

4. IR port: useless, awkward, short distance

5. SB sled: dumb yet still useful. Not very nice in look to geek but 99% of the pop still think this is cool, if you care so much how other would think! If HS can make it 1/8" thinner, smaller, and color keyed, then it will way better than MS or SD for expansion

6. Cover: look nice but we do not use it for we have SB VP in all the time. A Writeright and HS Sport case is good enough to protect it

7. Battery: cannot comment much for we charge almost every night even on trip, but fast charging, power drain is normal on daily standby. I estimate it could last 10 days for a single charge.

8. Stylus: well balanced and feel like a pen on your hand. Some defect include a easy to lost axial pin(only happen once) and a silo that can cause rattle noise if not padded. Easy operation though.

9. Alarm and speaker: silent mode is good, speaker is loud enough but no true speaker here

10. CPU: fast enough unless you want to do Pocket PC job on Palm

No hardware failure, nor functional failure, nor RMA, nor repair ever happened to my 2 units so far. Look like it will last except my wife is very hard on the power button, and her one have a tiny squeek noise when pressed, but still work. Edge does not appears to be a inferior product in comparison to Sony T415 or Palm M500. Its fault is that HS is half heart about it, and not enriching the product with color model and improved SB sled. Me as a satisfied customer on Edge has no effect on its future.

Alan

I can tell you that you could probably spend your money better elsewhere. Get a pro.

I wanted to upgrade from my original 2MB Visor in Dec. 2001. so I started reading the Edge reviews in Visorcentral and elsewhere. I decided to order one in late January 2002. I have a blue Edge, and it has been almost perfect: fast, clear screen, slim, easily carried in pocket (I seldom use any springboards, only one I had was the 8MB Flash memory, which I no longer need on the Edge), solid stylus. So, being spoiled by Datebook+ and other HS software, and good service from HS all along, I continue to be a satisfied Visor customer. My family members also own a Deluxe, a Platinum, a Neo, and my original 2MB Visor is still going strong. Good luck in your decision. Try the competitors out at a store before you buy (if you can). The Edge is excellent!
