Upgrading internal memory to 16mb

Kinda tempted to upgrade the actual internal memory to 16mb. This is not through memory modules, but the actual internal chip. There's a company that does this sort of thing:

http://www.stnecorp.com/

Has anyone done it yet? Or know of someone who has? It costs $100 to upgrade the visor edge.

The other company that does it is http://www.palmpilotupgrade.com. You'll probably find several people that have done business with one or the other, but I'm not sure how many DIY hits you'll get here.

I upgraded my Edge to 16Mb through STNE in early June. I was very pleased with the whole transaction. Service was fast and everything works great. I was worried about having them take the case apart to do the upgrade since the Edge screws have a spotty history, but there have been no problems. I couldn't even tell they had opened it.

I hesitated a bit on the cost. I think it came to $107 for the upgrade and return shipping. PalmPilot Upgrade was about $15 more. You can pick up a refurbed unit for about $130. That struck me as a bit strange, but who wants to carry two units around?

Mike
