So I understand that the Visor and the Palm V have the same screen which is different from the screen of the IIIx.
Is there more to it than a size issue (smaller for V and Visor) or is there a quality/contrast issue too ?

From what I heard is the screen of the Visor (and Palm V) smaller but with better quality.

Also It has software adjustments for the contrast instead of a litle wheel at the side of the unit...

The smaller screen size also packs the pixels tighter. This tighter pixel density makes the text look sharper. Just compare a V's screen with a IIIx at a computer store, the V's looks much sharper.

Found out for myself that the IIIx screen (workpad 30x actually)is great. Streaking disappears completely after upgrading to Palm OS 3.11.
Pretty happy with my purchase !

Thumbs down

Well, kind of... Compared to the III, the IIIx screen is better. But compared to the V, the IIIx isn't all that great.

Well I actually compared the IIIx (with OS 311) and the V and...the difference is not that visible.
Easier to see the difference between a III and a IIIx than between a IIIx and a V.
This debate reminds me a bit of the discussions concerning the quality of audio encoders. There's alwasy someone who disagrees in spite of...
I guess that you have a Palm V for instance no ?!!

You guess wrong. I don't have a Palm V. I have a IIIx. I sold my V to get the memory of the IIIx and also to get a lower price.

I'll agree that the difference between the III and IIIx screens is greater than the difference between the IIIx and the V screens. However, I think the IIIx/V difference is very noticeable. The pixels on the V are simply darker than the pixels on the IIIx. My IIIx pixels almost have a slightly brownish tinge to them , as opposed to the stark black pixels on the V .

This time, I'm switching to the Visor Deluxe to get the screen back (as well as double my memory again).

Point taken.
Kinda brownish, but still MUCH better than the Pro/III wish is what I needed to use it as a portable GPS.
