Unhappy

Received VDX yesterday - replaces PIII. Hooked up new cradle and let BackupBuddy do a restore. Everything worked fine for a short time. Then I decided to use the backup springboard. VDX was off inserted the springboard - the unit came on but overlaying the the springboard screen was the find dialog box with the last item I'd searched for.

Things went downhill from here. The unit would not respond to any taps on the find or cancel buttons it would not turn off. I removed the backup still nothing. Did a soft reset seemed to be OK went to change the time and it froze up again - would not respond to anything.

Next did a hard reset said YES to delete data. The welcome screen came on but would not respond to taps nor would it turn off.

Took the batteries out for 15 minutes once again at the welcome screen no response to taps. In my frustration I must have been gripping the unit a bit tightly it beeped and switched to the digitizer screen - tapping on the spots did nothing - except for a bluish liquid appearing to flare out under the screen near the top right side - and an even stranger twist - if I gently squeezed the sides of the unit it would beep and the digitizer screen would cycle through the various parts of the screen but not respond to any taps w/stylus. If I continued to squeeze the sides the unit eventually turned off and back on and onto the digitizer screen - repeating the above sequence. Weird!

I synched one more time with other odd results did another hard reset and synch and things are working fine for the moment.

The screen feels a bit squishier than the PIII when writing in the graffiti area.

I'm definitely calling tech support in the morning but was wondering if anyone else has had experience with a whacked out unit?
