Question

Hi all,

I'm experiencing an intermittent problem with my BVDx . I hav not loaded any programs on it yet so this issue should not be software conflict related.

Symptoms:

If left on the unit will turn itself off as expected. Frequently, upon pressing the power button to reactivate the Visor, I find it locked-up. I then find that the only way to recover is to do a soft reset (the paper-clip method).

Other times when the unit powers down and I immediately press the power button to reactivate, the application which was displayed at the time of power down is cleared in favor of the Palm OS logo. Has a soft reset just occurred?

Sometimes when turning the unit on I get the question 'Do you want to erase data?..." as if I'd attempted a hard reset .

No matter what I try I can't get the grafitti to recognize the punctuation strokes for colon and semi colon.

For the sake of completeness but probably unrelated I'll mention that I'm having difficulty getting the USB sync to work as well.

Any thoughts? Should I call HS customer care and ask for a replacement or are these events features?

Thanks for any help.

first thing that came to my mind:

it sounds like your reset button is stuck in the 'pressed' position. So that whenever you hit the power button you are effectivly doing a hard reset without meaning to. Perhaps the shell was screwed on and something is holding the reset button down...try pressing the reset button and feel if there is a definate click or travel.

As far as the graffiti and hotsync problem. i'm not sure.

There is a definate click and travel in the reset button. I don't think it's stuck.

I did wonder if there was a short somewhere.

I just searched the archives for reset and found a large number of posts regarding this exact issue. Some of the problems were with virgin visors like mine and some were attributed to software conflicts.

Several ended up calling HS and requesting a replacement.
