I just recieved my HS Modem Module and have a question.
When looing at the book that came with it, it talks about connecting to my desktop. I wanted to be able to connect to the internet and was under the impression that I could this directly through an ISP, not my desktop.
Am I missing something (like the obvious)?

You should be able use it to connect to your ISP directly without using your PC. They mention connecting to your PC as an option for doing Hotsyncs remotely. I just carry a backup module to handle that.

Since the HS Modem does not ship with any software, the only thing you can do with it out of the box is to dial in to your desktop and do a hotsync. Once you install 3rd party mail and browser software, (there are many threads here covering that) you will be able to dial into your regular ISP and use those services.

Actually when I recently bought my HS mode, it came with Avantgo and One Touch Mail on a CD, so it comes with some 3rd party software.
Furthermore you can connect to an ISP, you just have to enter in the info in the network preferences, it is fairly self explanatory really.
What is nice for some people is that you can even do a sync over the net, if your desktop has an IP address.
