I am warming up to the VisorPhone slowly but surely, but I have been wondering about one very practical issue in using it: Will you be able to put on the snap cover while the VisorPhone is plugged in? As far as I can tell from the photos at the Handspring site, you can't -- but that makes things sort of impractical. For example, what if you want to have the VisorPhone plugged in to receive an incoming call, but you are on the move when doing so (so the Visor is in your coat pocket or briefcase)? Must the screen stay uncovered and therefore vulnerable to scratches?

same goes for the minstrel

So far no decent solution for the Minstrel exists either. The slip cover that comes with it is merely a stop-gap until I can find a case that I can actually keep my Prism/Minstrel in even when in use.

I like the soft belt cases. I find the cover to be too much of a pain, but with the soft belt case, you do not need the cover. Looks like it should work with the visorphone also.

WriteRight (or generic equivalent)?

I've carried my VDX in a pocket for several months now with nothing more than a WriteRight for screen protection. As long as I point the screen towards my body, I can be reasonably certain of keeping my screen scratch free.

See your point re: briefcase pocket

Hmmm. Maybe you could cut a piece of thick plastic, cardboard, closed-cell foam or leather down so it fits inside the pocket in your briefcase. Then you would have a more substantial barrier between your VDX's screen and any objects that might damage it. Obvious problem would be getting something too thick, especially if you add in the thickness of the VisorPhone. Maybe a piece of sheetmetal or aluminium?

When I can't carry my VDX in a pocket, it rides inside a Rhinoskin 3000 case that bounces around in my briefcase (with Stowawy, SBMs, cables, etc.).

BTW, am I the only one wishing for a hands-free kit for the VisorPhone (for use in the car)?

The cover will not work with the phone installed. However, the phone has its own batteries and can receive calls w/o being in the Visor. Set it to vibrate and when it vibrates, pop it in and answer. A company is working on a keypad and microphone combo so that it will be usable totally out of the Visor!

Yes, I'm sure about it ringing when out of the Visor. The marketing rep for the DFW area was at our PUG meeting and explained it to us. Pretty cool, but too expensive for my blood.
