Unhappy

We have 2 visors. I like to use the Palm Desktop for all my addresses and scheduling. My fiancee prefers Outlook. Is there any way of setting her Hotsync to sync with outlook while mine syncs with Palm Desktop??

No. You might check with tech support at [email protected].

Their professional version might work based upon the fact that on my machine I can sync Outlook calendar, Act Address Book etc but I don't use multiple users so I'm leary (timothy) about trying and it's vague in the manual.

You might be able to, using different user names (system names) and PocketMirror...
Haven't tried it, personally.

Have you tried using the filelink feature maybe? It will at least get one of you to a *.csv file on your computer. I do this with multiple pilots with one category from my palm OS and it might at least give you another option. Careful if using win 98 do the settings from the hotsync icon and try to have the file set up prior (i think). Also pull the documentation from Palm because the manual is week on this great feature. I share the file across our server.

Mike

We've decided to have her update her visor at work using outlook and i'll update mine at work using Palm Desktop and we'll flip to see what we use at home...

If we use Palm desktop on one computer and outlook on another to update the same visor it should be a problem right??

I think you meant, "it shouldn't be a problem...". Yes, it shouldn't create any problems if you use Palm Desktop on one machine and Outlook on the other.

thanks...yup, i mean't 'shouldn't'

another quick question/comment.

My fiancee's computer at work is a Compaq running windows 95 but it has USB ports with some sort of driver for them. I tried connecting the Visor USB docking station and it would not recognize that it was there.

Is this because the Palm Desktop software needs Windows98 for syncing through a USB or am i just not setting something up correctly?

Alas, Win98 is required for USB. The Win95 USB drivers won't work (and indeed won't work for a lot of other USB devices)

Going back to my original question at the top...i think Chipset may have had something ...i found this on the Pocket Mirror support website and many of you might find it interesting and helpful:

I want to sync multiple users on the same PC, one with the Palm Desktop and..... (REF#990727-0075)

Description:

I want to sync multiple users on the same PC, some with the Palm Desktop and some with Outlook. Can I set this up?

Solution:

To set it up so that different users can sync to different PIMs (e.g.
Outlook and Desktop), you must configure Windows for separate user profiles.
Use the Password applet in control panel to set this up. Follow this
procedure:
1) Uninstall PocketMirror.
2) Use the Passwords applet to configure for separate user profiles.
3) Log in as the "Desktop" user account
4) Install PalmPilot Desktop
5) Log out and log in to the "Outlook" user account
6) Install PalmPilot Desktop (in the same directory as before, this just
updates the registry and does not copy files)
7) Install PocketMirror
Now if you log in as "Desktop", you sync with the Palm Desktop. Logging in under "Outlook" will sync you with Outlook.
