Question Visor Prism & Sprint Touchpoint Cellphone???

I've had my Prism for about a week now. So far I am very pleased....especially in light of the fact that I originally purchased the Palm M505 for $100 more. The color is MUCH BETTER on the Prism, and the possibilites....wow!

I have a Sprint PCS Touchpoint 2200 cellphone that I've been told should have no problem connecting to the Internet. After MUCH searching, I found a cable at www.purplecables.com for $34.00. Then I needed the Internet connection kit from Sprint...another $59.00. Then I was told to get Blaze...another $20.00. After hours and hours of searching, trying and having no luck, I purchased MultiMail from the Palm site for another $20.00. All this, and 2 hours on the phone with Sprint, and I still can't the Prism to recognize a modem. Sprint is stumped! I called Handspring and they don't "support" cell phone setups!! They supported it just fine on the box, when I paid $300 for it!!

Has anyone had any success with a connection like this? If so, what is the secret? I'm minutes from taking most of the stuff back and buying a Corded Springbooard Modem. Any help or advice will be much appreciated!

Thanks.

I have a Prism, a Sprint touchpoint and a cable from Markspace.com. It works fine. There are other threads on this board that have already covered this subject, but I can help you get set up. Let me know exactly how you have it connected and what you have your network connection set to and preferences. I use eudora but any e-mail program should do.

Indeed. I know that cables4pdas.com had the instructions for Sprint on their pages for a while - the last time I checked there the site was down, but it may be back up by now...

Do a search on this website on rs232 and scroll down to "RS232 to cellphone connection". The thread is long but go to the last page. This thread probably covers what you need. There are other threads but this is the one I started.

I have a cable for my Kyocera 2035a Phone, and it works OK with my Prism. It sometimes has a hard time dialing (it times out without ever activating the phone). I find that if I do a reser before trying to use the phone, it works better. Give that a shot.

One piece

You may want to look at www.gomadic.com for a cleaner configuration. Gomadic sells one-piece cables for the Touchpoint and has great support for configuration on their web site.
