Has anyone changed the color of their case? I bought an Ice Deluxe but no would rather have a graphite deluxe. All the transparent colors look like cheap plastic, while the graphite case looks much more professional (and less cheap). Of course nobody knew this based on the photos on the Handspring site.

Does Handspring offer to sell just the case? Has anyone experienced the same thing and asked Handspring for an exchange?

Just my opinion, but... the look of my Ice Dx is exactly what I wanted to set me apart from the crowd. At first glance, everyone thinks it's a gameboy or something. Then they see what this thing can actually do and, well, I think I've sold at least a half dozen of these puppies in the past week.

Remember, you can't judge a book by it's cover. Granted, "cool" colors aren't for everyone. I myself was torn between "cool Ice" and "professional <cough> Graphite". Obviously, Ice won out and I don't regret it. Nor do I think it looks "cheap"... again, just my opinion, and we all know what they say about opinions...

As I understand it, opening the case of your Visor will void your warranty...I think I saw it posted here once in referance to the styli that have the screw drivers.

My $0.02 - I love the colour of the coloured Visors - and 90% of the people I showed the BVD to liked it a whole lot and say that it definitely looks a lot better than the Palm (except mebbe for a Palm V)

Lightbulb

Perhaps someone that is unhappy with the look of his/her Graphite would be willing to trade with you for your IVDx.

Cool

Since the transparent Palm cases go for about $40 (front and back) - and the only difference with the Visor is the front cover - is there a chance Jeff and Donna will sell us the top cover in different colours for $20?

Neuritis,

I have to question the tone of your post when you say "of course nobody knew this based on the photos on the Handspring site". Why not...? This just sounds like another HS bashing post. If you were thinking of a colored Visor, you must have seen the iMac, the iBook, all the clear & colored accessories to go with them. Everything these days comes in translucent plastic. The only one that looks good IMHO is the newer, clear graphite DVD iMac. It's not fair to blame HS for your own change of mind. The translucent ones are a fashion. Black (or graphite) will always be black. Look at calculators, cell phones etc. Black may be 'boring', but it won't look dated next year. People either chose to blend in or stand out and if you made the wrong choice, I don't see how that's Handspring's fault.
If someone comes out with replacement cases, then we can all change our color to suit our mood or the weather or whatever, but until then....

Fubar,

I did not mean this as a "bashing" comment. However, us early adopters had to make our decision solely on what the Handspring site images showed (without the benefit of physically seeing and touching a real Visor). The images of the ice color were a lot lighter (silvery) than the real color (which is darker and has a greenish cast). I personally prefer the clear translucent cases better (Palm and Apple). If taking the case off is a simple matter, why would Handspring not offer replacement cases?

Ari: That's probably not very likely as they would not want people opening up their visors as this would probably void the warranty. I know it's not hard to do as I have already cracked the screen on my first blue visor. I ordered a graphite visor solo for $149 and swaped the screen and case with the busted ones in my blue vdx....
