Well, I spent 3 hours tonight installing, restarting, reinstalling, moving extensions, restarting, reinstalling, deleting, restarting, etc...and am just back to square 1 with The Visor and OS 9 (and OS 9.04):

If I use Palm Desktop 2.5, I can start a hotsycnc, but the desktop stops prematurely, and the connection is lost.

If I ust Palm Desktop 2.0h, I can hotsync once. Then the Serial Port Monitor crashes. In fact, the serial port monitor crashes everytime I opem the Hotsync manager...so now I can't even install any software.

This isn't really a question, just more of a vent.

I've already had to replace my defective visor and I have not had a stable hotsync setup in 3 months. I'm about ready to throw in the towel and get a Palm!

The good news is that you can download the new Palm Desktop 2.6 from Handspring and in the course of reinstalling gt all of the bits and pieces back in order and be compatible with MacOS version 9.04.

Sounds like you got in a familiar loop of having pieces from Palm Desktop 2.0h and 2.5 installed at the same time. I know that that doesn't work.

i asked this same question in the software forum:

so i've heard just about every conceivable horror story about the desktop software and upgrades and all that, and i've had my fair share of problems.
i'm an 8.5 os user - i'm holding out for osx before upgrading my mac - and had lots of serial port monitor issues, and even more issues with instant palm desktop. i resolved them all, mainly by disabling as much as possible. so my question now is this:

as an older os user, will it behoove me to upgrade to the new palm desktop (2.5?) or should i count my blessings and wait till osx and whatever i'll need then?

any thoughts, you mac users out there?
