I was wondering if certain types of styli help out in preventing scratches, i have the deluxe stylus that came with my visor deluxe and i havent scratched it up at all yet (ive only had the new one a few days, my old one broke for no apparent reason) and i was wondering if there was a certain type of stylus i could get.

If you are asking about the Invent-It! decals, the ones I bought were in a package of 8.5" x 11" sheets. (If they come in other sizes, I'm not aware. Their original function was not to protect screens, but to be printed on, using a color printer and stuck to a window.) As for if they are *better* than WriteRights? I wouldn�t say that� it�s all about personal preference. Some of my friends are happy with WR�s, and some don�t care.

If you think WR�s are a pain, these are definitely not for you. You would have to remove the coating, cut them down to the size of your screen, peel off the backing, and attach them to your PDA. Basically, having to cut your own would be a bigger pain.

I really like the convenience of WR�s, I just wanted something a little clearer and cheaper. I like how my screen looks now, but that doesn�t mean I won�t try something else in the future. I�m getting great suggestions from discussions like this. Now, if someone were to produce something else that I liked, (pre-cut, clear, with a little anti-glare), without charging a bunch of money, or being a crazy business person , let me know, and I�m there!

I use clear vinyl for screen protection, as mentioned in other posts here at VisorCentral.

You can get a sheet about a foot wide and a yard long at fabric stores like JoAnne Fabrics for under $2. Get the 8 gauge variety. This sheet is basically a lifetime supply.

Cutting the sheet to size is a real pain, though.

To apply it bubble free:

<LI>Rinse off, and shake off all but a few droplet of water
<LI>Apply sheet at one end, and use a credit card as a squeegee
<LI>Blot up excess water

I just got some Xerox Window Decals. Tried them out as screen protectors. On the positive side, they are very clear and do not blur the screen. But...

Overall, I'm not impressed. Here are the problems:

1) Cleaning the ink-jet printable coating off is NOT easy. It takes quite a while to get it all off.

2) Aligning them so that they go onto the screen straight is not easy. It took me many tries to get it right.

3) I could not seem to avoid trapping extreemely small pieces of dust under the decal. These then create bubbles that cannot be squeezed out. I used "dust-off" type pressurized gas to blow everything off - including my hands - still got dust particles.

Does anyone know of any way to remove the dust particles from under the decal once they hit the adhesive?

4) The surface is a bit too smooth for me. My Graffiti accuracy is suffering. The stylus just slips around too much. I'm looking for just a bit more resistance.

Also, a previous post to this thread mentioned that the Avery Window Decals use static cling and not a low-tack adhesive. Can anyone confirm this? This might make the dust removal easier.

I just use a piece of laminating tape across the graffiti area, they dont last a long time, but its cheap. And i dont really scratch up my screen anymore anyways. I just dont let other people use it, you just have to be careful with your stylus.

NOT out if you use the WR marketed for the Palm IIIc. No texture & clear. Looks like there is no screen protection at all. Fit perfectly, glare is increased but if your using the Visor in 1 hand or have it propped on a desk, glare is easy to adjust for.

I use writeright and have'nt looked back...it does the job perfectly and is worth the odd 30 bucks.

but what about the glare, so far ive just found that not letting anyone borrow it and being light with the stylus does the job ok :-)

I tried out the INVENT IT! decal sheets. I created a 8cm x 6cm screen template out of a manilla folder. I placed the decal sheet in side the mini folder and cut the right size the first time. Then I followed the suggestions of previous posts that said to remove the gummy tack that was on them. This proved to be real pain and I ended up scratching the sheet. When I put it on my Visor I didn't like the feel at all. The scratches were quite apparent.

So.... I followed a suggestion of a co-worker and that of a previous post and went to Jo-Ann fabrics and bought half a yard of clear 8 gauge vinyl. I used the same screen template to cut it to size, then washed it off with a little water; applied it to the Visor and used a credit card to smooth out any bubbles. I got about 90% of the bubbles out. The rest will come out in time. Finally I used a little Amor-All on the vinyl providing a nice smooth writing surface. It is by far a better solution than the Invent It decals, an a whole lot cheaper. .79 cents for half a yard. I should have tried this first.

After everything has been said and done - I'd go with MJ. (by the way MJ, what is that thing?)

I bought WriteRights the same day I bought my Visor (in March) and have only used one. I am kinda in-between on the glare issue. I like that the non-glare ones cut glare. I wish they were just a little more transparent. To me, they seem easy enough to put on, they certainly do the job, and since at this rate my 1 pack will last me something like 50 years (kidding) I think they're worth the money.

To me they would be worth it no matter how long they last, because I hate scratched screens!

Sorry, you didn�t like the decals. I�ll probably also try the vinyl sometime in the future, but for now, I�m happy with the decals. It feels like I don�t have anything on the screen at all. I personally like the slip and slide when I write Graffiti � I can write faster.
