Question Garmin eTrex or Magellan Companion?

I am looking into getting a GPS in the next week or so to take on a trip to Lake Tahoe, but I can't decide on which one I want.

It appears that the Magellan Companion doesn't have a digital compass, but I read somewhere that the program "Compass" turns your visor into a digital compass. It that true?

Are there any users that have gone from one to the other? Why?

I like the idea of my using my 8 MB Module as a place to store more maps, where I can't do that with the companion. If I buy the eTrex then what are the benefits of connecting it to my Visor? Would it be just for the maps and extra memory? Does the eTrex/Visor combo get better reception than the Companion?

I need to decide before the end of this month. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

BTW... I have read all of the posts that I can find concerning GPS here in the forum.
