Need Help With Mac Desktop

Greetings,

I've just upgraded to a Mac G4 Quicksilver, running Mac OS 9.2.2, and I've installed Handspring Palm Desktop v 2.6.1. Unfortunately I'm having problems with the "Instant Desktop" from the drop down menu.

Both the Tasks, Contacts, and Appointments are greyed out as unavailable selections.

Is there a bug here, or am I doing something wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
-cnegrad

Hi,

I think these items on the menu only show tasks and appointments that are due today. Try adding an appointment for this afternoon and see if it doesn't show up in the menu. The headings "Events & Appointments" and "Tasks" stay greyed out but the events are in black.

Thanks for your response! But what about Contacts? How does that work? Shouldn't I be seeing a list of all my contacts, so I can choose a contact to dial through my modem?

Currently Contacts is greyed out as unavailable.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

wow, I never noticed that function before! jeez!

okay, I researched this for you. Palm Desktop's help has all this info.
You need to add specific contacts to your Palm Menu. To do so, use "Find Contact" under the menu, and type in some letters. When a list comes up (of one or more names), select the name you want to add. You can either display the contact or add it to the menu -- and if you add it to the menu, you can pick what phone number to use.
There doesn't appear to be an easier way to do this, like a checkbox in the contacts window, but if someone knows better, please advise.

I know it only displays appointments for the day of; however I've never had my tasks (current or otherwise) appear in the menu list. I can't find any reason for this; any ideas?
