Question

I'm posting this question here because up until I received my VxD, I never had the USB port activated in my BIOS.

After turning on the USB port, a strange thing happens, quite randomly. When I scroll while viewing a web page in IE5, at some random point while redrawing the page, the browser freezes. This causes my entire system to lock up... task manager is not even available. It doesn't matter if the VxD is in the cradle or out, or if HotSync Manager is running or not.

This is driving me nuts. I'm running Win98 Second Ed. with an AMD K6-400 processor. Anyone had any ideas?

It may just be my imagination, but it seems as though all of the "I'm having problems with USB" posts seem to be coming from people with Win98 2nd Edition.

I'm beginning to suspect it's not all the fault of the Visor's USB cradle.

Theo, I had similar problems with my iMac. Unlike CJ, my freeze-ups only took place during hot-syncs, not while doing other stuff. But they all disappeared when I switched from the USB cradle to IrLink. Presto, no more crashes! I don't know whether it was a cradle problem or an extension conflict, but I wouldn't be so quick to blame Win98 (and this from a Mac addict!).

Oh well. It was just a thought since I hadn't seen any non Win98 2nd Ed. USB problems mentioned till now.
