Question

Comp.sys.palmtops.pilot and www.palmos.com both list a new beta version of keyboard.prc for the Stowaway. Neither Handspring nor Palm can tell me if it is compatible with the Visor. I have emailed Targus but have not heard from them yet.

Does anyone know if it works or is their a Visor specific driver?

Thanks, Billy

I don't know but I would say *NOT* to use it unless is is for the Visor. Besides the latest drivers are on Targus's site and are working perfect for me. I have not had any problems with the keyboard as far as the drivers and any programs go.

I am going to take it back for an exchange to see if I can get one that lays flatter. Mine ssme to have a slight bulge in the center of the keyboard when laying flat on a desk.

I went to the Targus site and asked about an upgrade through tech support. They sent me a new version of keyboard.prc for the Visor. It hasn't been released yet and seems to be working fine.

Mine lays lust fine.

Yeah, revbilly, could you send us a copy of the new driver? Does it have a README that says what the keyboard update is supposed to solve?

Well the problem I had was the actual bottom of the keyboard below the spacebar would move up and down not just where the keys are. I exchanged it and this one does seem better. There is still a slight bounce with the keys but I accept that as normal and it isn't too bad at all. The bottom part lays flat now so I think the previous one was slightly warped.. BTW See my other post for an interesting story.

I just got the driver but I don't really know what the difference is between the two drivers. I would have stayed with the old one myself but I always want the newest (better if its free ). Please James, what does this new driver do?

My Stowaway, that I got from Targus last week, works just fine. Think will stick with what I have until I know what new driver does.

The new driver fixes a problem iwth some of the keys not working. I thought it was a bad keyboard. Luckily I caught a discussion of Palm Users who said they were having the same problems. The Command, Space, N and Control keys weren't working. The only solution was to repeatedly restart the Visor to re-enable the driver. It usually took six or eight times to get the keyboard fully functional. Really annoying. The new version fixes that. The Palm users pointed me tot he Palm upgrade and I contacted Targus for the Visor upgrade.

I also have the new driver --thanks revbilly-- and for me the added benefit was eliminating delays in scrolling. If I used the hardware button to scroll up and down through screens there was a very annoying delay in the action (mainly in Avantgo). Disabling the old driver would eliminate the delay, so I kept it off unless I was using my keyboard. With the new driver, no delay. Now I just leave the driver enabled at all times. Small convenience.

FWIW, I had none of the non-functioning keys trouble with the old driver.

Unless some legal guy flips out, you can download the new driver from here- http://www.geocities.com/palmy656/hskeyboard.zip

I called Targus and the Tech support said she didn't know anything about the driver update. Is your link still working? Thanks.

Question

Anyone have a working link, or could someone send the the new driver? I'm having problems with PalmIRC, and ProxiWeb being EXTREMELY SLUGGISH with keyboard input. I can type out about 2-3 sentences, but it takes about 30+ seconds for all of the text to show up on the screen.. quite frusterating..
