Question

I have downloaded GreenLightHack 1.2 and I find that it has three versions: 1) always, 2) usually, and 3) sometimes. Huh? the explanation doesn't make it clear (at least to me) which one I should use. Any suggestions?

Sheryl:

If you choose 1.2a, the backlight will always be reversed. You will not be able to use the original backlight that came with the Visor. As a matter of fact, even if you choose to delete GreenLightHack, you will be left with the reversed backlight, and will need a hack to get you back to the original backlight.

If you choose 1.2u, your default backlight (the one you get when you press the On button) will be the reversed backlight; however, you will have the option of tapping the graffiti area, then pressing the On button. This will give you the original backlight for the times when lighting conditions make the original backlight better.

If you choose 1.2s, your default backlight will be the original backlight; however, you will have the option of tapping the graffiti area before you press the On button. This will give you the reversed backlight.

I guess it really depends on how much you like the reversed backlight. I chose 1.2u, because I feel the reversed backlight is better most of the time. The nice thing is if I want to try the original backlighting, I still can.

I hope this helps.

You do not need a hack to make this reversal.

The OS provides an internal "dot" shortcut that accomplishes the same thing. Try this:

(1) In the MemoPad

(2) make the shortcut symbol (like a lower case cursive L)

(3) make a dot (tap tap)

(4) then make an 8 in the right hand number side of the grafitti area.

This will reverse the backlight. Repeat the exact same process to reverse it back.

Question

OK, reading the two answers to my previous post brings up a further question. If I load the "always" version of GreenLightHack, does the dot-dot-eight shortcut reverse back to the original type of backlighting?

OH YEA...
It dosen't work that way on my visor delux...
The shortcut dot dot eight only prints [Inverting Backlight] or [Normal Backlight] on the memo!!
Am I missing something?

I thought that this only worked on the 3-com palm devices...

let me know if I am missing something.

Oooops.

Sorry, you may be right. I had used the "dot-8" shortcut on my PIII, where it works, and had not tested it on my BVD, before I posted.
